USA Hires John McNamara To Run In Plain Sight

USA Network has hired John McNamara to overhaul In Plain Sight and serve as the show’s new showrunner. This will be the first time McNamara has run a show that he didn’t create himself. His past credits also include The Fugitive and Eyes. He has more recently consulted on several shows, including Jericho. McNamara replaces former showrunner David Maples, who created the show and will continue to receive a consultant credit. Also departing the show and getting a consultant credit is executive producer Paul Stupin.

USA is looking at the opportunity to have McNamara expand In Plain Sight’s scope. McNamara said the show will probably add a few new characters to the mix as viewers get to know more of Mary McCormack’s backstory and more of the other marshals in the office. More of the Witness Protection Program participants’ stories may also be examined, and the show will likely take more advantage of the stark, desert New Mexico landscape.

Production is expected to begin next January in Albuquerque for the show’s third season.
