USA is close to giving a series order to White Collar, with the pickup expected to be sealed after final details are worked out. The show, from Fox TV Studios and creator Jeff Eastin, revolves around the unlikely pairing of a brilliant con artist (Matthew Bomer) and the head of the FBI’s white-collar crime unit (Tim DeKay). Tiffani Thiessen, Marsha Thomason and Willie Garson co-starred in the pilot, which was directed by Bronwen Hughes.

With the odd couple at its center, White Collar could be a potential companion for the James Roday-Dule Hill starrer “Psych,” whose longtime lead-in, “Monk,” is headed into its final season. The show was one of three 90-minute cast-contingent pilots that top cable network USA ordered last year, all of which, including “Royal Pains” and “Operating Instructions,” got cast and produced. White Collar would be the second of the trio to receive a series order after “Pains” was picked up for 11 episodes in January.
