Michael Ausiello is reporting that True Blood creator Alan Ball has cast Evan Rachel Wood to play the pivotal role of Sophie-Anne LeClerq, the vampire Queen of Louisiana. Sophie Anne is a very major character.

She is not only fascinating in her own right, an enchanting vampire seductress, but her character also has a pivotal role in deepening Sookie’s involvement with the vampire world. She’s nearly 500 years old and rules over all the vampires of Louisiana. She is described as being worldly and wise, cunning and charismatic, beautiful yet ruthless. She is also listed as having known many famous people throughout the ages, many of whom she’s slept with.

Wood is booked for two episodes, both of which will air towards the end of the show’s upcoming second season.

It is going to be very interesting to see how Alan Ball is going to write up the Queen in True Blood. I hope he DOES NOT follow the books and keeps Bill and Sookie together because they are the heart of the show! Can’t wait for season 2!
