Desperate Housewives

The final new episode looks to air on January 6. [Michael Ausiello]

Gaby’s husband, Victor, was indeed killed by the tornado (or, more specifically, a picket through the chest). Also done-for is Sylvia, the patient who was stalking Nathan Fillion’s doc. The fate of Carlos, who was left for dead on the floor of his house, will be confirmed, and Housewives fans will also discover who survived the collapse of Mrs. McCluskey’s home, in which Tom and Ida were taking cover. That’s right — another tornado-related death could be revealed in the new episode. [TV Guide]

The introduction of Katherine’s ex wasn’t the only major plot that was back-burnered due to the strike. Drug-addled Mike was supposed to befriend a mysterious woman while in rehab, and Marc Cherry was in the midst of casting the part when production came to a standstill. [Michael Ausiello]

ER

Gates, Grady, Sam and Skye treat Beth, who fell on an escalator and hurt her ankle. Beth’s boyfriend tells them she just got back two weeks ago from a thirteen month tour in Iraq. After running tests, they determine that Beth is eight weeks pregnant and she admits one of her superiors raped her. She didn’t tell anyone because she knew they wouldn’t believe her. Former PA at County, Jeanie Boulet, comes in with her HIV positive son, Carlos, who has a cut on his head. They do a CT and find a spot on his brain that they need to do further testing on. Grey’s Anatomy

There’s one new episode left and it airs on January 3. [Michael Ausiello]

Bailey’s family faces a medical trauma, just as her marriage is falling apart; a surprise visit from George’s mother comes as a shock to both Izzie and Callie; a faith healer challenges Erica and Alex’s beliefs in traditional medicine; and Derek must deal with the aftermath of his kiss with Rose. [ABC]

There’s some big stuff happening with Lexie in the next (and final prestrike) episode. There’s also some big stuff happening with Bailey that is one of the most emotionally gripping storylines yet, and it involves Bailey’s baby. [Kristin@E!Online]

Jericho

Carol Barbee talking about the Heather/Jake/Emily triangle: “Heather comes back to town to find Jake and Emily together. And she gets a possible new love interest. But there’s still a pull between her and Jake that ends up working into the story.” [Michael Ausiello]

Law & Order

The show returns with all-new episodes January 2. It’s back with two new characters. Linus Roache plays the new courtroom prosecutor, now that Jack McCoy has been bumped up to district attorney for the city. One of the more hotly debated/discussed shots in the theatrical trailer also happens to be the very first thing we see in the January 31 season premiere. [Michael Ausiello]

There will be at least two deaths on Lost in the first eight episodes. [Michael Ausiello]

Lost Spoilers resumed the spoilers released in the Season 3 DVD commentaries:
* Horace Goodspeed and Olivia are important to the DHARMA story, and we can expect to see more of them in the future.
* Richard Alpert was conceived as the “Panchen Lama” of the Others. (That would make Ben the “Dalai Lama.”) Alpert’s role is to pick the next Dalai. Ben’s role would be to pick the next Panchen, should the need arise. This keeps the two in a sort of balanced power relationship. They are allies, yet they have some measure of control over the other should one get out of hand.
* Ben uses the volcanic ash circle to contain Jacob. Jacob also has the means to control Ben to an extent.
* Speaking of volcanoes, there is one on the island. Damon says it will be of “seismic importance” (pun very much intended.)
* The Looking Glass Station is a communications station. Its role is to emit the ping that guides the submarine to the island.
* The DHARMA purge was not the first purge by the Others. There have been many groups on the island, and the Others have purged many times before. Remnants of all the groups make up the Others we see today. Damon likens this to the United States, which is a nation of immigrants from many cultures who have assimilated into a common culture.
* Ben set Locke up to kill Cooper as a test…he was certain Locke would fail as he has not shown himself to be capable of murder. There is probably no great mythological reason for killing one’s father; Alpert helps Locke find a way to kill Cooper because it is the only way to break Ben’s manipulation.
* Damon suggests that Ben’s penchant for numbering his rabbits “probably has something to do with fertility experiments.”
* Room 23 is located on the Hydra island, which is designated for zoological experiments. Has it only been used on humans, or was it previously used on other animals? And if so, what animals?
* Annie is an extremely important part of the island’s backstory, and it is a planned chapter to come. Annie is more important than the Goodspeeds or the volcano.
* The mechanism for the purge at the Barracks was different from the mechanism Ben uses in the van (the canister of gas). The gas canister was added in post-production to give Ben a more active role in his father’s death. But the original plan was for something to happen more or less island wide at 4 PM.
* We have not seen Ben’s motivation for his role in the purge, but we will.

Medium

Anjelica Huston’s character works for AmeriTips, a company crime victims can hire to supplement the official police investigation. Anjelica’s character, Cynthia, reaches out to Allison—now totally out at the DA’s office after last season’s scandal—after Al calls in a tip about a missing child. Their initial sit-down, however, does not go well. Unfortunately, with Scanlon avoiding her calls, Devalos out of town and the new DA totally unsympathetic, Cynthia is pretty much Allison’s only remaining resource. [Kristin@E!Online]

Lee and Allison seem pretty estranged as the season begins, but those two are never apart for long. That said, Allison and Joe seem happier than ever, and Lee’s still with the blonde from the mayor’s office, so expect that pairing to be strictly subtext for a long time to come. [Kristin@E!Online]

Men In Trees

The show is moving to Wednesdays at 10 pm beginning February 27, but that may not be set in stone. [Michael Ausiello]

Moonlight

There’s still nothing official, but all signs point to an imminent full-season order. The higher-ups at the CBS — entertainment president Nina Tassler in particular — believe the show has tremendous growth potential and that they have a genuine star in leading man Alex O’Loughlin. It also helps that the show is relatively cheap to produce and it’s been consistently beating Women’s Murder Club in young demos. [Michael Ausiello]

David Blue has snagged a two-episode arc as a vampire computer hacker/wizard who Mick uses when investigating cases. He first shows up in January. [Michael Ausiello]

Nip/Tuck

The death this season occurs early next year and it’s an awful way to go — even by Nip/Tuck standards. [Michael Ausiello]

22 episodes were ordered last year, to be divided into two seasons. The good news is that all 14 episodes for Season 2 were completed before the strike and will air through February 19. (No new epsiodes air on December 25, January 1 or January 8) The bad news is that the eight episodes for Season 6 have not been written, so they’ve been postponed indefinitely. [Michael Ausiello]

Numbers

A woman reports on the FBI anonymous tip line that she was stopped for driving drunk after leaving a bar. The police officer in an unmarked car but in a dark blue LAPD uniform said he would be a nice guy and give her a ride home, then helped walk her to the door and the next thing she remembers is waking up naked on the floor and she had lost a day. She remembers him giving her a bottle of water in his car on the way home and believes he drugged and raped her. She tells Megan that she washed all the evidence away with bleach and burned her clothes and sheets because she does not want to be a victim but she remembers a few things, including the officer saying something that made her think he had done this before and would do it again. Amita’s apartment is being fumigated so she asks Charlie if she can stay with him for a few days and he says that would be a great time to experiment and see how it would work with the two of them living together under the same roof as his father. [SpoilerFix.com]

One Tree Hill

Michaela McManus has been added to the cast for a multi-episode arc. She’ll be playing a “tough but kind” New York editor assigned to work on Lucas’ novel. [Michael Ausiello]

Kate Voegele, who’s a young musician in real life, plays someone who gets signed to Peyton’s record label after another musician, played by K-Fed, is bumped from said label. Apparently, he comes to her show and heckles her to the effect of, “Get off the stage, ho!”. [Kristin@E!Online]

Also in the new season (which, remember, takes place four years in the future) Brooke is doing very well, but it will be a while before we see her with a boyfriend. [Kristin@E!Online]

Pushing Daisies

Swoosie Kurtz is Chuck’s mother. We’re also going to find out that Chuck’s father is still in the picture.Ned and Chuck are so not done. The knowledge of Chuck’s mother will put Olive in a verry interesting predicament, as she has to decide whether or not to tell her. [Kristin@E!Online]

Reaper

Sock and Sam move into a condo together and when their electricity goes out, they go next door to ask for help locating the breaker box. They meet their neighbors, a gay couple named Steve and Tony, who not only come over and flip the breakers but offer to get lightbulbs to replace the dead ones in the kitchen, notice the empty fridge and say they are going to fill it up with great food, they then ask the guys over to dinner that night. Sock and Sam find a vessel in the living room later that evening and open it to find a cane, but decide to go to dinner first. They hear a sander running when they go next door. Sock is offered some expensive scotch that he notices inside. During dinner when Sam spills something on his shirt and when Steve takes him into the bathroom to use a stain removing pen on it, Sam notices two belt sanders hanging in the bathroom. Scrubs

“Carla’s definitely angling for more kids!” Judy Reyes shared excitedly. “Before [production] was cut off, she was actually scheming to that effect, in a way that Turk would respond to. I hope we get to finish that story. I can’t even imagine the lengths to which Carla will go to get pregnant again.” [Kristin@E!Online]

“Half the audience wants them together, and half wants them apart. You can’t please everyone!” Zach insisted. But Bill Lawrence isn’t hearing any of it. He’s convinced he’s come up with the perfect way to resolve the Dorian-Reed saga before the series ends. [Kristin@E!Online]

Kelso’s farewell episode has already been shot and will air in January. But does he plan on staying outta sight, outta mind? “Well, you have to remember that Kelso won muffins for life!” Ken Jenkins joked about a recent storyline. “I wouldn’t bet on him going anywhere.” [Kristin@E!Online]

Neil Flynn has a love interest this season, and he’s thrilled: “It’s a nice gift from Bill. I think it shows that [the Janitor] is not a completely insane lunatic. They’re not going to get married or anything, but we’ll definitely see her again.” But will she spill the beans on the Janitor’s real name? “I still don’t know what it is,” Neil admitted. “I’m leaving that up to Bill [Lawrence]. But I don’t think it’ll be anything crazy.” But it will be the end of an era. “When you know his name, you know it’s over,” Mr. Lawrence shared. “That will be the end of the show.” [Kristin@E!Online]

This is most definitely the last year. There will be no eleventh-hour renewal. But rest assured, the series will get its proper farewell, strike or no strike. Bill Lawrence said they have not yet written the last six, but they’re already outlined, and he knows how it will all play out. “We’re not going to leave a lot of loose ends undone. We’re gonna wrap things up for all the fans that have stuck with us for seven years. I’m going to find a way. I imagine the [final season] DVD would actually sell a lot better if it includes a few unseen episodes. And if it doesn’t make economic sense to do that, we’ll shoot ‘em in my backyard and put ‘em on YouTube.” [Kristin@E!Online]

Bill Lawrence says there’s a chance of a Sacred Heart spin-off: “We’ve had so much fun with these characters, and if there’s a way to keep it going, spin one of ‘em off, we’ll do it.” [Kristin@E!Online]

Smallville

Sam Jones III will be reprising his role as Pete Ross for one episode. [Michael Ausiello]

The Wire

The final season premieres January 6 and will focus on the media’s role in the workings of Baltimore, as well as following the continued struggles between the cops, the crooks, the government and the schools. More specifically, new mayor Carcetti faces some difficulties living up to his campaign promises, cold-blooded drug kingpin Marlo is looking to make some major changes in the area drug trade and Dominic West’s Detective McNulty is back in plainclothes and stirring things up in his own inimitable (read: pissing everyone off) way.
