This week: Bones, Boston Legal, Brothers and Sisters, Burn Notice, Dexter, Dirty Sexy Money, ER, Friday Night Lights, Grey’s Anatomy, House, Lost, Notes From The Underbelly, One Tree Hill, Pushing Daisies, Scrubs, Smallville, Supernatural, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Unit and The Wire.
Bones
The cliffhanger at the end of episode 12 is going to be more difficult emotionally for Brennan than for Booth. Someone’s suffering physically as well. [Kristin@E!Online]
Boston Legal
Scott Bakula is committed for just one episode, and it’s slated to air on January 22. [Michael Ausiello]
Brothers and Sisters
Kevin’s initial choice between Jason and Scotty isn’t necessarily his ultimate choice. [Michael Ausiello]
Burn Notice
It’s slated for June, but as a result of the writers’ strike, that’s subject to change. Shooting was scheduled to get under way in mid-January, but that start date will be delayed for as long as the strike lasts (i.e., a two-month strike would push back production to mid-March). As long as the strike is resolved by the end of February, the second season will debut on schedule. [Michael Ausiello]
Dexter
The name of a series regular will be missing from the opening credits in the third season. [Michael Ausiello]
Dirty Sexy Money
If you’re wondering where Carmelita disappeared to in last week’s episode, rest assured it wasn’t the local morgue. “They’re not going to off her,” insists leading man William Baldwin. “She’s [been] abducted. And that’s another thing. Did Tripp do it? Did Simon do it? Did my wife do it? Who dunnit?” [Michael Ausiello]
ER
According to Linda Cardellini, over the next few episodes, “We hear about him [Alex] in dialogue, but we haven’t seen his face yet.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Friday Night Lights
The big cliff-hanger at the end of Episode 15 — FNL’s final pre-strike eppy — centers around a surprise pregnancy! [Michael Ausiello]
The epic battle between the Light (Tim Riggins) and the Dark (Terrifying, Creepy, Meth-Lab-Running Ferret Man) is far from over. They’ve barely scratched the surface of that storyline. [Kristin@E!Online]
Look for an important supporting role played by big brother Billy Riggins. [Kristin@E!Online]
Tim doesn’t stay at the Taylors’ for too long. [Kristin@E!Online]
Grey’s Anatomy
I can neither confirm nor deny that Bailey will be getting a divorce this season on Grey’s Anatomy. [Michael Ausiello]
George’s mother will return. Originally slated for November sweeps, it was delayed until Episode 11, aka the show’s final pre-strike episode. That probably explains why George had little to do during the just-wrapped two-parter. Why’d they move her out of sweeps? When it became clear that episode 11 might be the final hour of Grey’s we get in a long time, the script underwent “massive rewrites” to ramp up the drama and add several cliff-hangers — one of which involves George’s old lady. “They’re pretty big bombshells,” says the source. “Basically, everyone’s futures are left up in the air.” [Michael Ausiello]
The next episode (the last of this season if the strike doesn’t go away) is the best one yet. It is Bailey-centric, and Chandra Wilson narrates it, all because something awful happens to someone she loves very much. Prepare to cry and howl. And yes, it is related to her home life and that marital ickiness that has been rearing its ugly head of late. [Kristin@E!Online]
House
Due to a strike-related scheduling issue, House’s holiday episode won’t air until January 29. And helping to spread some of that belated holiday cheer is none other than West Wing’s Janel Moloney. She’s guesting in the episode as a patient — a single mom with an atypical relationship with her young daughter. [Michael Ausiello]
Lost
In the beginning of season four, Sawyer is on Team Locke! There are two teams and that the other leader is Jack . . . but Kate’s allegiance will suprise you. Jin and Sun aren’t playing for either team. [Kristin@E!Online]
In season four, it seems like Ben still has everybody’s number—including those on an incoming vessel. [Kristin@E!Online]
The show is currently casting fluent Franco-Tunisian voice actors for what must be episode seven or eight. [Kristin@E!Online]
Notes From The Underbelly
According to Peter Cambor (Andrew), the gender of the baby remains a secret. But he says, “It’s definitely not twins. I can tell you that much.” Look for 15 episodes total of Underbelly; as they had 5 in the can from last season, and they were able to finish 10 episodes before the strike rolled into town. [Kristin@E!Online]
One Tree Hill
By the end of the January 8 premiere, there’s a flashback to a moment in those lapsed four years that changes the lives of four people. [Michael Ausiello]
The new woman in Lucas’ life may not want the one that used to be there back in it. [Michael Ausiello]
MySpace music star Kate Voegele will be doing a multi-arc as part of the music storyline involving K-Fed. [Michael Ausiello]
Pushing Daisies
Could Chuck’s mother be alive? Whom could she be? This is certainly not the end of Ned and Chuck, but the rest of the season will be bumpy. (Translation: Not pretty.) There’s lots of drama coming their way! And the parental stuff is most certainly the biggest root of it. [Kristin@E!Online]
Scrubs
Kelso is, indeed, saying his Sacred Heart goodbyes early in the New Year, and therefore, will not be around for an episode or two. We’ll see him again after that, provided the strike ends before February, and the writers can pen the later episodes. If not, Kelso’s return may only be available on DVD. Word is Scrubs EP Bill Lawrence has promised the cast and crew that even if the strike marches on into the spring, they will film the final episodes, even if NBC doesn’t air them. [Kristin@E!Online]
Smallville
Jane Seymour is returning for the final pre-strike episode (No. 15), which probably won’t air until February. It’s safe to say she’ll appear in a flashback since Lana stabbed her to death in Season 4. I think it’s also safe to say said flashback will finally reveal both why her character was the way she was and what connection she has to a certain Smallville villain (Brainiac). [Michael Ausiello]
Supernatural
In “A Very Supernatural Christmas,” Sam and Dean try to figure out what has been causing people to be kidnapped through their chimneys. Dean is also determined to have one final Christmas celebration, and we get flashbacks of how Sam and Dean used to spend their Christmastime. We learn who gave Dean his amulet, and for whom it was originally intended. Also, there is a hysterical scene in the next episode involving a “Santa,” a huge bong and holiday-themed porn, which is possibly one of the most hilarious moments of the series so far. But there is also some decidedly unfunny torture that goes down in the same episode, which is not for the squeamish. And yes, the victim is one of the brothers. [Kristin@E!Online]
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Garret Dillahunt is playing the recurring role of a Terminator named Cromartie, a shape-shifter, who’s after Sarah and John. (Cromartie was played by Owain Yeoman in the pilot; Garret will come aboard after that). Additionally, Drive’s Brian Bloom has also been cast as a bad Terminator, and 90210’s Brian Austin Green is playing… actually, I’m not allowed to say who he’s playing. Apparently, it’s a huge reveal. [Michael Ausiello]
The Unit
They killed Hector Williams (Demore Barnes) off as strictly a creative decision. As the producers have said, they’ve been itching to tell a story dealing with the death of one of the Unit members, but they needed the audience to know and love the characters for it to have any real impact. [Michael Ausiello]
The Wire
McNulty (Dominic West) is back on the job, married to Oscar fave Amy Ryan, and a complete and utter basket case. He’s drinking and womanizing harder than ever and rarely answers calls from home. Meanwhile, the city has no money to pay for investigations or even overtime, and the way the frustrated McNulty deals with the situation will Blow. Your. Mind. [Michael Ausiello]
