We might be seeing a different kind of Jack Bauer this season. Not exactly kinder or gentler, but perhaps a more world-weary and less bullet-proof superhero . . . Executive producer Howard Gordon says, “We learn [this season] that the world is a very complex world. A lot of the wish fulfillment that powered the first bunch of seasons is not [as possible] in the post-Abu Ghraib, post-Guantanamo world. Wouldn’t it be great if Jack gets every bad guy he roughs up? Yes, but the world’s not that simple. [This season] Jack doesn’t get out without paying.” [Watch With Kristin]
30 Rock
When Jack hits Liz’s reunion, he’ll act like one of the gang, attempting to bridge the gap between Liz and her former classmates. Her reunion turns out to be like those kids at the prom in Carrie, and Jack kinda sorta accidentally becomes a father. [Watch With Kristin]
Larry King has confirmed that he will be guesting on 30 Rock as himself. He’ll be in one scene opposite Tracy Jordan. [Watch With Kristin]
90210
Not only is Ty Collins (Adam Gregory) returning, but he’s bringing mom and dad back with him. Look for an appearance by Ty’s ultrarich but surprisingly nice parents. [Watch With Kristin]
Brothers and Sisters
The episode airing this Sunday is huge. Tommy and Julia are forced to find out who her real father is. My money’s on the guy Tommy is currently not getting along with. [Watch With Kristin]
Someone is going to have a heart attack. [Watch With Kristin]
Chuck
Anna is back in a huge way next week. [Michael Ausiello]
Josh Schwartz talking about the Dark Intersect storyline: “The Dark Intersect is the first sign that the bad guys (read: FULCRUM) are figuring out that if they can’t find the Intersect, why not rebuild it — which makes Chuck even more valuable. And yes, it is a trilogy.” [Michael Ausiello]
Brooklyn Decker and two other S.I. models head for Chuck in an upcoming episode, and Chuck (Zachary Levi) is in for a surprise when she slaps him. [Watch With Kristin]
CSI
In the episode airing December 11, Grissom announces his retirement, and the rest of the episode focuses on the gang’s reaction – Willows knew it was coming before Grissom did, etc. Fishburne’s character, Dr. Raymond Langston, is introduced in a classroom setting, but Grissom’s current investigation and Langston’s lesson plan – interviewing a serial killer as an academic exercise – soon intersect. Langston busts Grissom in a lie shortly after they meet, but don’t worry; their clash is quickly put aside when that jailbird serial killer Langston was interviewing starts spilling secrets about a series of recent homicides taking place in the city. Langston doesn’t join the team in this episode, but the foundation is laid, and it looks to be a strong one. [Watch With Kristin]

It’s produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell (Anchorman, Talladega Nights) and Chris Henchy (Entourage). Ferrell will also costar on the series, as the owner of a local car dealership. It premieres Feb. 15. [TV Guide]

Friday Night Lights
By season’s end, Dillon will open a second high school, upending both the town’s storied football program and Coach Taylor’s tenure as Panthers coach. Also, the finale (airing Jan. 14 on DirecTV – NBC reruns the season starting January 16) will jump ahead five months to the end of the school year, at which point we’ll have a good idea who’ll be moving away to college and who’ll be sticking around for a possible fourth season. [Michael Ausiello]
Tyra finally discovers that Cash (Zach Roerig) has a dark side that involves gambling and mistreating women. [Watch With Kristin]
Grandma and Shelby fight viciously, leaving poor Matt in the middle, and someone with an agenda makes Riggins an offer he can’t refuse. [Watch With Kristin]
Ghost Whisperer
Executive producers P.K. Simonds, Ian Sander and Kim Moses talking about Melinda being in love with Sam: “we’ve tried to be clear that at least to the outside world, Melinda is not ‘wildly in love’ with Sam (Jim). At least not yet. Though there is plenty of aching and longing, the two of them are scrupulously respectful of each other’s boundaries — he because she is grieving her husband, and she because he is grappling with memory loss. We’re planning to address what friends and neighbors think, in a big way, as we move forward in Season 4.” [TV Guide]
Greek
Rebecca (Dilshad Vadsaria) will be staying with the Zeta Beta Zeta house and not leaving for Frannie’s (Tiffany Dupont) Iota Kappa Iota house, but that doesn’t mean the ZBZ’s won’t be desperate for new girls. [Watch With Kristin]
Grey’s Anatomy
Even though Erica didn’t think Callie was much of a lesbian, Callie is still exploring her sexuality, despite mourning the loss of Dr. Hahn, and in this week’s episode she starts suspecting Sadie (Melissa George) might be into her. Although there is what seems like an initial flirtation, it doesn’t go anywhere. [Watch With Kristin]
Mark and Lexie continue circling each other. [Watch With Kristin]
Heroes
Kristen Bell’s return was never meant to be long term, so she was leaving one way or the other. Elle’s death is permanent. Unlike 90 percent of the deaths on Heroes, this one will stick. [Michael Ausiello]
The Hunter (Zeljko Ivanek) will be partners with at least one (and possibly two) alpha-male Heroes we know. [Watch With Kristin]
As I told you last week, a blond Hero who’s in a new relationship is getting killed, but I’ve since learned that despite many signs pointing to that Hero’s death, all is not lost. There’s a coverup at work, and she may well rise from the dead. [Watch With Kristin]
*You know how H.R.G. told Gabriel that he was being played by the Petrellis and that he was not, in fact, their son? Circa Volume IV: Fugitives, Sylar begins a new hunt – but he’s not seeking to feed his hunger anymore. He’s tracking down information on his past. [Watch With Kristin]
As you saw in this episode, Nathan Petrelli is at a turning point. He’s ready to harness his power, only he’s still not sure in whose service he ought to employ that power. What does he decide? Well, let’s just say that in 2009 Claire might have another morally ambiguous dad to disapprove of. [Watch With Kristin]
In Treatment
Paul (Gabriel Byrne) will take on another young patient named Oliver. Similar to Sophie, Oliver seems to come from a divorced family and is quick to challenge Paul at times, seeing as he doesn’t want to be in therapy. [Korbi TV]
Law and Order: SVU
Dr. Huang is still very much a member of the cast; he just hasn’t appeared frequently as of late. That will change with the December 9 episode, titled “Smut,” in which he’ll head-shrink guest star Michael Trucco, who employs the “porn-made-me-do-it” defense. [TV Guide]
Lost
Episode 10 is looking more and more like it might feature a Sayid flashback. Lost is now casting for a father and two young boys who can speak fluent Arabic. The newest casting notice, for the younger son, describes the character as “quiet and thoughtful, loves his older brother and is protective of him, can do what his father asks calmly and coolly.” Could this be Sayid? [Watch With Kristin]
NCIS
In an upcoming episode, McGee finds himself trapped with dozens of women. The women are in prison and they’re holding him hostage. “It’s a tense, exciting episode,” reveals executive producer Shane Brennan. “Sean Murray puts in a fabulous performance. The story also reveals a little about McGee’s romantic past.” [Michael Ausiello]
Eli David, played by Michael Nouri, will be seen again, and possibly before the end of this season. [TV Guide]
Nip/Tuck
Among the curious characters we’ll meet this year are an overweight nudist – we’re talking Star Jones-before-the-”medical intervention”-overweight – whose confidence mystifies Christian and a couple that’s considering taking the fixation with Barbie and Ken to what I can only assume would be its logical, surgical conclusion. [Michael Ausiello]
Private Practice
They’re now casting a “a confident, self-assured, attractive and a highly intelligent grown-up” male surgeon in his 30s or 40s. [Watch With Kristin]
Pushing Daisies
There will be so many deaths it will be hard to keep up with. Two of them are fake, but of the many that are real, one has a serious effect on one of the Aunts. [Watch With Kristin]
By the season finale, at least one of the show’s big mysteries will be solved, which will be a big relief for one Mr. Emerson Cod. Could this be Emerson being reunited with his daughter? [TV Guide]
Look for Olive Snook to sing a Bangles song I embarrassingly once used as the seductive soundtrack to a fumbling, though ultimately successful high school assignation. [TV Guide]
Rescue Me
Janet will still be dating that Dwight dude when Rescue Me returns in Spring 2009, she and Tommy will end up in bed together this season anyway. Tommy and Sheila will reignite their sexual relationship as well . . . and it won’t be one-time thing. [Korbi TV]
Scrubs
In the first episode of the new season, Dr. Kelso’s beautiful but unethical replacement, Dr. Maddox (played by guest star Courteney Cox), shakes things up at Sacred Heart, while J.D. struggles to manage a new crop of incompetent interns and Carla helps Elliott put her ego in check. [SpoilerTV]
In the second episode of the new season, J.D. and Turk set aside their decade-long steak night tradition to comfort a dying patient, while Dr. Maddox (guest starring Courteney Cox) begins to show her true colors. [SpoilerTV]
Smallville
Clark does, in fact, come out as an alien during an interview with Lois. Said revelation causes mass chaos. [Michael Ausiello]
Sons of Anarchy
All the Sons of Anarchy regulars have signed on to Season 2, but as of press time, Drea De Matteo, who appeared in four episodes this season, has no deal in place with the show. [TV Guide]
Supernatural
Sam might have slept with Ruby while Dean was in Hell, but that doesn’t mean she’s the only potential love interest for him. The younger Winchester will soon meet a doctor with whom he hits it off. [Korbi TV]
This big Dean vs. Sam fight is being made out to be more than it is. While the brothers will physically attack each other, the circumstances they’re in will explain the violence. In other words, the boys aren’t exactly acting of their own free will. [Korbi TV]
The Big Bang Theory
In an upcoming episode, when a bully starts ragging on one of Sheldon’s competitive robots, Leonard stands up for his best friend and does a little trash-talking about the other guy. [Watch With Kristin]
Turns out Penny may have an interest in scientists after all… ones with Nobel prizes, anyway. The Big Bang Theory’s blonde next door will soon begin dating a sexy, young physicist who she meets through Leonard, much to Mr. Hofstadter’s chagrin. [Korbi TV]
The Unit
An upcoming Tom-centric hour will feature flashbacks to the military man at ages 9, 15 and 19. As an added bonus, the kid cast as the 19-year-old Tom will get to play a scene with Eric Haney, the original Delta Force member whose book inspired the series. [Michael Ausiello]
The show is casting a new Unit member. [ZACH BRADSHAW AKA, "SAM"]
25, ANY ETHNICITY, A new Unit Member, Zach is the new generation, and younger than our guys. This generation listens to the soundtrack of their lives on their ipod. Remember to make it into this elite Unit of the special forces you must be in the top tier, agile, physically and mentally. Zach/Sam is put through a Bourne/Bond- style action sequence in his first episode. Unit members do not have to be buff or big, they can range from Colin Farrell in Miami Vice (but at 25) to Michael Irby (at 25) so that they can melt into different situations, regions, and peoples. It is not necessarily your typical expectation of the military. Zach/Sam is constantly put to the test from our guys and rises to each occasion. This is a young man who is driven, patriotic, brave, daring, with an internal confidence that the camera can’t deny. sptv050769 RECURRING- 4-5 episodes (Reminder- we don’t break top, we break them in Shawn Ryan/ David Mamet style). The character is also set to appear in episodes 416, 417, 418, 422. [SpoilerTV]
True Blood
The show is looking for a new series regular to play Sarah, the pleasure-seeking missus of Steve Newlin, the Fellowship of the Sun’s big cahuna. New semi-regulars are also being sought for six-episode arcs as Daphne, Merlotte’s new waitress, and Luke, a burly twentysomething who’s as dedicated to religion as Jason is to sex. [Michael Ausiello]
Ugly Betty
Betty’s father will suffer a heart attack soon. Fortunately it’s not fatal, but it will prompt Betty to move back home. [Watch With Kristin]
