24

Tony will be front and center this season. [Kristin@E@online]

24 producers earlier this summer briefly toyed with the idea of making Tony the big bad of Day 7. That idea was quickly jettisoned, and soon after Gary Oldman was invited to come aboard as this season’s evil mastermind. A deal couldn’t be struck, so the show was forced to devise a Plan C. Or so they’d like us to believe. What I think is that they reverted to Plan A and, when Carlos Bernard resurrects Tony, it won’t be as an angel. [Michael Ausiello]

Annie Wersching talking about her new role on 24: “I play agent Renee Walker. I’m heading up an investigation in D.C.—where the show takes place this year—and we bring Jack Bauer in to help us. Most of my scenes are with Kiefer. It’s been a good week, running around shooting guns. Very exciting.” [Kristin@E@online]

30 Rock

Cerie is still engaged to her Greek shipping heir. Liz Lemon, gets involved with helping Cerie plan the wedding. In fact, she’s going to be a bridesmaid! And we’ll also see Liz in a dress in the season premiere. [Kristin@E@online]

Look for lots more love for Kenneth the Page this season. [Kristin@E@online]

30 Rock producers want Will Arnett to stick around as long as possible, but so far, he’s only signed on to one episode. [Kristin@E@online]

Jenna gains weight from having spent the summer doing a musical version of Mystic Pizza. [Kristin@E@online]

Bones

Eric Millegan talking about the new season: “We just shot our sixth episode of the third season, which, if you do the math, is the 50th of our entire series! It’s crazy. My character went to Iraq at the end of last season, and [now] he’s back. I was sent back early, and we deal with why that happened when the show returns.” [Kristin@E@online]

Brothers and Sisters

During November sweeps, Sarah and Joe will be surprised to discover that they’re washing-machine quickie in Sunday’s season premiere may’ve produced a baby! [Michael Ausiello]

Dave Annable talking about Justin’s return from the war: “He has an injury that’s he’s going to be trying to get over, and a wheelchair is definitely involved in that. I’m hoping for some lighter stuff down the line, but it’s a really important story to tell, a returning vet, obviously stuff we are dealing with now, so it’s pretty exciting to tell that story.” [Kristin@E@online]

Dexter

In the season premiere, Doakes has made good on his threat to keep on eye on Dexter, so Dexter responds by joining a bowling team. When he finally manages to escape from Doakes’ watch, Dexter has some, uh, performance anxiety relating to his murder of Rudy. He’s clearly off his game, and his inability to kill his second intended victim has consequences that go further than he could have imagined. [Kristin@E@online]

ER

A family death will reveal something very sad about one of the staffers in the October 11 episode. [Michael Ausiello]

Neela turns out to be the worst nanny in the world when she watches baby Joe for Abby. Thankfully, she gets an unexpected assist from Dubenko. [Michael Ausiello]

There are no plans for Shane West to return this season, but another beloved County General alum will be making a cameo of sorts this season: Jerry Markovic! No, Abraham Benrubi isn’t leaving Men in Trees, but he gets a fun little shoutout in the aforementioned Oct. 11 episode. Here’s the sitch: When the front desk gets backed up, Sam tells Frank to call Jerry ’cause “maybe he’s ready to come back to work.” Frank replies, “You didn’t hear? He moved to Alaska… slinging pitchers of beer outside Alaska.” [Michael Ausiello]

Friday Night Lights

In the season premiere there’s a baby, a near hookup (a long-awaited one!) and a death. [Kristin@E@online]

Gossip Girl

We’ll soon be meeting Blair’s dad, who, according to the casting breakdown, is “a Cary Grant charmer with impeccable taste and manners.” Translation: He’s gay! He also resides in Paris with his model boyfriend.

In the October 3 episode Blair gets a tip that her frienemy Serena may have spent time in rehab during her mysterious year-long hiatus. And the name of the facility – The Ostroff Treatment Center. [Michael Ausiello]

Grey’s Anatomy

The show is adding a new female character, described as a “girl-next-door type” and a potential love interest for one of the show’s doctors. [Michael Ausiello]

In the Grey’s cover story in Monday’s USA Today both Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo basically confirmed that there are no major developments with Mer-Der in the early part of the season. “Meredith and Derek are sort of treading water,” Dempsey said. Added Pompeo, “All of our scenes are the same — we’re either breaking up or having sex.” She then teased that the star-crossed lovers will have an on-call-room “date” in an upcoming episode. Onetime spoilerphobe Shonda Rhimes, meanwhile, teased that one couple will get divorced this season, “and not the one people are thinking of.” [Michael Ausiello]

In the third episode of the season, the new interns are dazzled by the skill level of fellow intern George, while Lexie helps keep his “repeater” status a secret; Meredith half-heartedly helps Lexie with her first emergency patient; Sloan and Richard attempt a radical, new surgery to save a woman’s ability to speak; and George is compelled to tell Callie of his past indiscretion with Izzie. [ABC]

Izzie’s interns think she’s a bottom-of-the-barrel loser (Denny’s death strikes again)—especially after she brings a deer into the hospital to be saved. [Kristin@E@online]

Callie has a terrible time getting respect from others on the staff who don’t understand why she was made chief resident, especially over Bailey. [Kristin@E@online]

Meredith and Derek are officially broken up as of the first episode, but there is still hope. [Kristin@E@online]

Producers are looking for a big-name star for a recurring role on the show to begin around November. She’ll be in her early 30s, sweet, strong and the sort of girl who would catch the eye of a certain regular character. [Kristin@E@online]

Heroes

The Haitian returns in the second episode. According to Jimmy Jean-Louis: “He will connect with some other people. He’s very much with Mr. Bennet still, but he is going to be working with some others, including a doctor. And he speaks a little bit more, but he still has his powers. Actually his powers are getting stronger.” [Kristin@E@online]

The first half of season two is a murder mystery. (Hiro’s dad and Claire’s grandma seem to believe they’re targets as well. [Ain't It Cool]

Molly’s “worse than Sylar” boogieman is identified in 2.5. [Ain't It Cool]

Hiro, who gets busy with a princess, may not return to the present until 2.8. [Ain't It Cool]

Many questions about the season-one cliffhanger will be answered in 2.8, titled “Four Months Ago.” [Ain't It Cool]

Sylar leaves the series around 2.16 to play Spock in the movies but is expected to return at season’s end. [Ain't It Cool]

Kristen Bell, whose character may or may not be a lightning lass like Gwen Raiden, is slated to join the show with episode five. She’s to hang around for at least 13 episodes. [Ain't It Cool]

Kristen Bell’s character, Elle, has ties to both the Bennet and Petrelli families. [Ain't It Cool]

It looks like Primatech might be behind the virus that killed Mohinder’s sister. [Ain't It Cool]

Stephen Tobolowski (Ned from “Groundhog Day”) is introduced as a Primatech boss. [Ain't It Cool]

Dominic Keating (“Enterprise”) plays a hero involved with mobsters in Ireland. [Ain't It Cool]

David Anders (“Alias”) plays Hiro’s ancient Japanese idol, Takezo Kensei, who turns out to be a blonde, blue-eyed assassin with a British accent and a drinking problem. His real name may or may not be Kane. His superpower is revealed in 2.2; is he immortal? [Ain't It Cool]

Ando will find himself shuttling between New York and Japan, where Hiro is presumably leaving him clues from 400 years in the past. [Ain't It Cool]

House

Olivia Wilde’s character is keeping something from us! While we find out in the second episode that another job candidate has a potentially fireable secret, Olivia says that her character’s secret is “bigger, way bigger!” [Kristin@E@online]

Men In Trees

They’re adding a new kid to the cast. More specifically, a 21-year-old Russian hockey player. [Kristin@E@online]

Jane’s parents, who happen to be little people, will be making an appearance this season. [Kristin@E@online]

My Name Is Earl

Randy ends up moving in with Joy and Crab Man, and she whips him into shape with some tough love. [Kristin@E@online]

This year Earl will make amends with a stripper whom he seriously injured when he pointed a laser in her eye mid-pole dance. She ended up in a back brace. [Kristin@E@online]

Nip/Tuck

Christian’s psycho ex Gina is back! Sources confirm that Jessalyn Gilsig has closed a deal to return to the show for at least one episode, to air in January. Remember, when last we saw Gina, she unloaded her son Wilber on Christian and vanished into thin air. She returns to check in on her son and, more importantly, make Christian’s life a living hell. [Michael Ausiello]

Dawn Budge will be run over by a “dyke on a bike”—the writer’s words, not mine!—at the Los Angles Gay Pride Parade, which prompts Ms. Budge to bring a serious lawsuit against the poor lady. [Kristin@E@online]

Sean and Christian will hire a new (and cosmetically improved) receptionist this season. Unfortunately, they won’t keep her around too long, since her overwhelming sexual appetite will prove a bit too distracting for them. [Kristin@E@online]

Prison Break

After his failed attempt to rescue LJ and Sara, Lincoln receives a deadly warning from The Company; Michael formulates an electrifying escape plan from Sona; Mahone is haunted by a face from the past; and T-Bag crawls up the ladder as Bellick lands in hot water with Lechero. [Fox]

Scrubs

Bill Lawrence is promising a slight shift in tone for the show’s final season. “We’re reverting back to some of the earlier seasons in that the really broad and goofy stuff will happen only in fantasy,” he says. “I think it’s really important that people give a s–t emotionally about the characters, so they go back to being really grounded. The first couple years had a lot more dramatic elements, and we’re doing that a lot more.” [Michael Ausiello]

Also, look for J.D. to finally grow the hell up. Zach Braff has essentially been playing a man-child the past seven years, a little boy that’s never growing up. He has to grow up and become an adult. By the third or fourth episode, his character will be a lot different — mostly to gear up for the end of the year. [Michael Ausiello]

J.D. is having a hard time getting along with Kim’s mother. He has a fantasy sequence imaging a scene of American History X with him and Mrs. Briggs. [SpoilerFix.com]

Shark

Sherry Stringfield will be reprising her role as Nora March in the November 11 episode. [Michael Ausiello]

Smallville

Executive producer Al Gough talking about Lana and Clark’s relationship this season: “She knows the secret, all the cards are on the table, so we’re going to play their relationship honestly. But now that she’s been married to Lex and that relationship has scarred her, the question becomes, ‘What sort of secrets is she bringing to the relationship?’ You will definitely see some reversals. You’ll definitely see a darker Lana.” [Michael Ausiello]

Lois is going to get a job at the ‘Planet,’ which puts her in contention with Chloe. [Michael Ausiello]

When Lana returns to Smallville, she will be making the Kent farm her permanent residence. [Kristin@E@online]

Look for a little Lana jealousy to rear its ugly head around episode five, when Clark becomes friendly with a beautiful actress. [Kristin@E@online]

Supernatural

The November 15 episode ought to be a treat for Buffy/Angel fans, and not just because it’s vampcentric, either. Mercedes McNab — the scene-stealer who played dumb blonde Harmony on both shows — has just been signed to guest as a toothsome chick who recalls for the Winchester boys the night she picked up more than a hangover while out clubbing. [Michael Ausiello]

The Office

B.J. Novak talking about Ryan’s future: “[The beard] is a sign of Ryan’s wannabe maturity, his would-be transformation. Ryan sees himself as completely changed, and he wants to send a message. His clothes are completely different, and his facial hair is different. I narrowly avoided a pencil-thin goatee. At the last minute the other writers decided I could just grow scruff and call it a day. I wrote into my episode that [writer-actor] Mike Schur, who plays Mose, had to wear a horrible neck beard, which he grew for three months. And then he wrote into his episode that I had this awful goatee. And we experimented with a fake beard, actually, but I avoided that fate…” [Kristin@E@online]

B.J. Novak talking about Ryan dealing with Michael: “Michael has incredible powers of self-delusion and incredible powers of idealization, so he takes that as a sign that Ryan is his friend who wants to treat him like a host. I mean, it’s a comedy show, and that relationship is very complicated. Michael still thinks Ryan is his best friend and his protégé—his partner in crime.”

The Riches

They’re adding a major recurring role in Season 2 — one Eamon Quinn, a murdering poet who, after getting sprung from prison, seeks to reclaim his position as the leader of the Irish Travelers. [Michael Ausiello]

Ugly Betty

Someone [sorta] dies in the first episode of this season. [Kristin@E@online]

Amanda develops a candy addiction out of stress from finding out her mother is Fey Sommers. [Kristin@E@online]
