Producers briefly toyed with the idea of making Tony the Big Bad of Season 7, but that plot was scrapped. I know this because reliable sources say the show recently reached out to Gary Oldman to play Day 7’s evil genius. Oldman allegedly passed on the part, and now it’s once again up for grabs. [Michael Ausiello]
From the 24 Comic Con panel: Season seven will begin with Jack Bauer in hot water, facing the U.S. Senate over perceived crimes.
Battlestar Galactica
Three humanoid Cylon models will be completely wiped out next season. Well, I just found out which ones are getting retired, and I can tell you they all have one thing in common: their gender. [Michael Ausiello]
The name of the 13th Colony in the Colonial Scriptures? “Cylon.” [Michael Ausiello]
At the San Diego Comic Con, unbilled Lucy Lawless surprised the crowd to announce her return for two or three episodes of the fourth and final season.
Cylon D’Anna, played by Lucy Lawless, will return midseason for two or three episodes and would be a part of a pivotal moment in the series that will effect the season’s second half.
The identity of the fifth and final Cylon will be revealed late in the series, maybe even the final episode.
Lots of Adama-Starbuck conflict will drive this season, especially the first episode.
Baltar’s arc will be “shocking and thrilling” and he hasn’t had many scenes with Number Six this year. – Moore is hoping to bring back lawyer Romo Lampkin from the season three finale.
Having seen Earth, Starbuck will be played with heightened emotions and a new sense of purpose.
Hera is crucial to the ongoing story and her arc will be concluded.
Bones
The Bones-Vanished storyline crossover probably does not involve any Vanished actors. [Kristin@E!Online]
Brennan’s father will ask his daughter to forgive him for having been a disappointing father. Of course, expect her to react in a way only she can: silence followed by a “What were you expecting? I agree with you.” [SpoilerFix.com]
Brothers and Sisters
Nora and Kevin are converting to Republicanism. At least that’s the story they’ll use when a right-leaning cop pulls them over for speeding. [Michael Ausiello]
In other news, Luke MacFarlane is returning for a string of episodes, to keep Kevin company until Viva Laughlin’s inevitable cancellation frees up Eric Winter. [Michael Ausiello]
Burn Notice
Matt Nix talking about the rumor of Fiona burning Michael, “It’s not as simple as ‘Fiona burned him…,’ [but] there are definitely things Michael doesn’t know about Fiona, though, and about other characters on the show. There are plenty of secrets we hope to explore in the future.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Desperate Housewives
In the episode 4.03, Susan goes to the mall where she has an appointment with an OBGYN (one can guess that she decided to switch doctors when she discovered that Adam lives on Wisteria Lane). Doctor Takajian’s office is not well kept; actually, the office and the man seem shady. Before she enters the office, another patient warns her that Susan should make sure the nurse is in the office with them. Another patient says that she only comes to this clinic to get clean urine. [SpoilerFix.com]
Dexter
The second season resumes 38 days after the conclusion of the first season, with Dexter feeling somewhat stifled by (a) Sgt. Doakes’ constant surveillance and (b) having his sister as a roommate. It’s no wonder he’s having some trouble performing. As Dexter says, “Maybe I’m just a little rusty after killing my brother.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Since Deb’s now-dead boyfriend turned out to be a serial killer, Deb has been calling Dexter’s apartment home. That must mean she was oblivious while Dexter and Rudy debated slicing her up while she lay etherized upon a table, right? Not necessarily. [Kristin@E!Online]
Deb’s returning to work, with many questioning whether she’s ready to be out in the field. Soon, however, everyone (except maybe Doakes) will be much too busy investigating the Bay Harbor Butcher to pay much mind to Deb’s emotional problems. [Kristin@E!Online]
You might recognize those neatly packaged parts found by divers in the deep waters off Miami, because, you see, the authorities have discovered Dexter Morgan’s body dump. [Kristin@E!Online]
Lt. Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine) is the FBI specialist brought in to lead the task force investigating the grisly killings. The body count keeps climbing, and Debra can’t hide her glee that a new mass murderer has come along, supplanting the Ice-Truck Killer circus in everyone’s minds. [Kristin@E!Online]
Another interesting consequence of Rita’s assertiveness is that Dexter finds himself in an addiction recovery program. (For drug addicts, not serial killers—but hey, at least he’s getting some kind of treatment, right?) Alas, it’s in this support group that Dexter meets another woman…and finds himself in the middle of a love triangle. Executive producer Daniel Cerone says Lila (played by British actress Jaime Murray) is “someone Dexter can truly connect with—someone cut from the same cloth as him (in spirit—not necessarily a killer) and who understands his darkness. One thing we explored deeply last season was Dexter’s search for connection, [and] Dexter’s darkness connects to Lila’s darkness.”
The actor playing Rita’s son Cody was recast, but not because the producers intend to follow a storyline developed in the second Dexter book—in which Cody begins to exhibit signs that he, too, might want to be a serial killer when he grows up. Cerone says, “We talked about it, and it felt a little sensational and a little convenient. Cody didn’t have the background that Dexter did…We always said that that’s what turned Dexter into what he is. Next season, who knows?” [Kristin@E!Online]
We’re going to be seeing more of Dexter’s foster father and his unique parenting lessons this season. As Michael C. Hall points out, “Chinks in the code start[ed] to emerge” when Dexter learned that Harry lied about Dexter’s birth father and brother. [Kristin@E!Online]
In season two, says Hall, “the shadow side of Dexter’s relationship with his father—and the shadow side of his father—is explored. [This is a] big part of [Dexter's] journey, [and he] has to rethink his relationship to the code as a result.” The show runners say, “Last season Harry was an iconic, mythic father figure, [but] the arguably crazy person in all this is Harry. Harry could well have said, ‘This boy is deeply troubled, and I’m going to get him help.’ He chose another path. We’ll learn why. We’ll learn a little bit about [the choices he made involving Brian].” James Remar, who plays Harry Morgan, adds, “As Dexter comes to terms with his past, what the hell made him this way, more memories are being revealed to him.” [Kristin@E!Online]
ER
Linda Cardellini talking about Sam’s love life this season, “[My son]’s kind of out of my hair. He’s out of a reform school of sorts, so it frees Sam up for dating. [But we've] shot the first two, and I haven’t been dating or seeing my son yet though.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Friday Night Lights
With Coach Taylor away, Tami will find herself leaning rather heavily on her temporary replacement at Dillon High, a guy named Glenn — but the big question is how heavily. “They have such a good marriage, it’s not like she’s going to go out and have an affair,” executive producer Jason Katims says. “But I think there is an interesting [dynamic] there. [Eric]’s away and there’s somebody for her to talk to and maybe even help out around the house a little bit to fix things.” [Michael Ausiello]
One of the new Dillon Panthers is a bit of a bad boy who boasts a police record. We’re also told he’s got a little Latin flavor that might attract a certain girl we already know and love. [Kristin@E!Online]
Greek
Next Monday’s episode is a “big fun episode. The Kappa Taus are hosting their legendary homecoming party — Vesuvius — showcasing a volcano that ultimately involves Rusty’s scientific brain and, coincidentally, the Department of Defense. Rusty learns that he has a secret admirer. We’re also going to meet Evan’s parents (played by Kathryn Harrold and Kevin Kilner), and Casey does everything she can to fit in with the illustrious Chambers — including watching Masterpiece Theatre. And Dale ends up at his first fraternity party. [Michael Ausiello]
Closeted fraternity brother Calvin is getting a love interest by season’s end. [Kristin@E!Online]
Grey’s Anatomy
Sources confirm that newly minted Emmy nominee Elizabeth Reaser is returning to Grey’s this fall as Alex’s Jane Doe. An exact episode count is still being worked out, but it’s definitely more than one. [Michael Ausiello]
George And Izzy are forced to examine their relationship while tending to an, unusual patient: a deer. That’s right, an injured deer will be admitted to Seattle Grace. [Michael Ausiello]
Heroes
We’ll be seeing less of Ali Larter this fall as Niki takes off early in the season to, as Larter herself teases, “fix something. And once it’s fixed, it will be very shocking and exciting.” [Michael Ausiello]
Volume II: Generations may or may not be a full season. [Kristin@E!Online]
There’s a new character named Monica who comes from a Katrina-ravaged area of Louisiana. [Kristin@E!Online]
The powers of new Heroes Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) are connected. Dania talked about her fictional brother, “We need each other.” We also hear that despite reports the fraternal twins are from the Dominican Republic, they’re actually from Central America and will either be leaving from or at least passing through San Cristobal, Honduras. [Kristin@E!Online]
Greg Grunberg recently, and he had this to say: “We’re still playing with some of the stuff from last year, but they’ve definitely introduced a new character, which I hope I have a big part in, that they alluded to last year. Remember, Molly said last year, ‘Every time I think about him, he can see me; he’s the bogeyman.’ There’s this character that is looming out there that’s bigger and badder than Sylar, so it’s going to be pretty crazy.” I ran that by Sylar himself, Mr. Zachary Quinto, and he said, “There’s definitely a dark new energy on the show, and it’ll be interesting to see how Sylar fits into that.” [Kristin@E!Online]
According to Jack Coleman talking about HRG, he’s moved the family to somewhere in Southern California. He says, “Los Angeles would not be accurate, but not far off.” He added, “Everyone survives, but the Bennets are a very dislocated but determined group that tries to make the best of it, but old ways and old ghosts quickly come into play very dramatically.” [Kristin@E!Online]
There will be an upcoming storyline set in County Cork, Ireland. Separately, look for a dangerous new Francophone character named Sophie. She’s the employee of a powerful, mysterious group, and she’s “not afraid to use lethal force to accomplish her mission.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Jericho
The show will be introducing the new acting president of the U.S. this season. The part, per the casting notice, is being modeled after JFK, a charismatic leader the people need to help rebuild what is left of the country. [Michael Ausiello]
Lost
From the San Diego Comic Con Lost Panel: Season four will feature both flashbacks and flashforwards.
Ben didn’t plan to be caught in Rousseau’s trap, and where he was going at the time will be revealed. What happened to the balloonist Henry Gale? Ben didn’t kill him, but “they had words.”
At least one whole episode will follow Jack and Kate’s adventures away from Dharma Island.
They wouldn’t reveal when Michael returns, but they said Harold Perrineau would be a series regular in the fourth season, and his return would be near the start of the season.
Richard Alpert “may” get limited screen time, as Nestor Carbonnel is now a regular on CBS’ Cuban-American nighttime soap “Cane.”
The story of Libby will be told in season four. Apparently Libby has a connection with Dharma Island.
Rousseau’s story will be told, but probably not until season 5
The panel ended with a recently discovered Dharma film talking about station 6, “The Orchid.” It’s not a botanical research station, but is highly volatile, and potentially dangerous experiment. The film shows Dr. Marvin Candle holding a rabbit with the number 15 on his side, written in black. Objects begin falling behind Candle, the camera moves, and an identical rabbit appears on a shelf. They start shooting the opening to the training video again before the film runs out.
Executive producer Carlton Cuse and line producer Jean Higgins appeared at the LATV Festival last week, “Some people speculated that [going forward] the show will be set in the future and then flashbacks to the present, but no, we aren’t changing any of the format of the show. We are just adding the flash forwards as an element. They have made a radio call to a freighter, and there are people on that freighter, and it might be logical to imagine that that storyline will continue…The situation is going to be very intense this year. Charlie wrote on his hand not Penny’s boat, and [that] message was very important. It was really funny because [the clip at Comic-Con showed] Mr. Friendly saying, ‘By the time you see this, I’m gonna be dead, but I am telling you it’s a shame, because whoever is going to come after the Others is going to be a hell of a lot worse than we ever were.’ Damon and I were listening to him and sort of nodding our head going, ‘That’s pretty prophetic.’ ” [Kristin@E!Online]
According to Carlton Cuse: “With Jin and Sun there is a very dynamic situation at work. She’s pregnant…the fate of her child, the fate of their marriage, all those questions Damon and I will get to and more this season.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Carlton Cuse on Walt, “Walt will be back also. But we’re not going to get into any details about that.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Cuse on Jacob, “Yes, you will see more of Jacob.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Mad Men
There’s a creepy one suprise coming next Thursday when the new divorcée on the block asks Don’s wife Betty to babysit her pre-pube son and her infant daughter. Let’s just say that Mrs. Draper she gets more than she bargained for. [Michael Ausiello]
Medium
Medium creator Glenn Gordon Caron talked about the upcoming season, “We’re negotiating to bring in a big secret guest star, can’t tell you who just yet, but for now it’s female, someone really unexpected, who will have unexpected ramifications on the world our people live in. What else? We’re gonna do this thing where we write an episode on the Web with the fans, which is gonna be really cool. I’ve been wanting to do this episode which is completely sung, and I think we may get to do it this year. And we’re really trying to do another 3-D episode, but all 3-D this time.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Numbers
When a teenage driver driving a fancied-up car made for street racing crashes, killing one and injuring many other innocent people, Don figures out that the car was made out of stolen parts from around the country. He convinces Charlie to help him figure out why it happened. While the driver lies in a coma in the hospital, the doctor tells them that he has multiple sets of injuries, including sharp blows to the left side of his head. A shoe print shows that someone, probably at the crash scene, kicked him in the head. Colby is back with the team. [SpoilerFix.com]
One Tree Hill
Newcomer Michaela McManus has been added to the cast for a multi-episode arc. She’ll be playing a “tough but kind” New York editor assigned to work on Lucas’ novel. Daphne Zuniga, meanwhile, is doing five episodes as a “glamorous and intimidating” business exec who works with Brooke. [Michael Ausiello]
Prison Break
They are not recasting the role of Sara Tancredi. [Michael Ausiello]
In episode 3.03, Mahone gets a visit from the public defender assigned to his case, Paul Darinda. The latter tells his client that they have a trial date. Thing is, it is in a year! Darinda is not really interested in what Mahone has to say, which includes that Michael can testify that he set Mahone up. Darinda says that judges won’t fall for the “one inmate will take the blame for another” trick. He tries to convince Darinda to get meds for him as he can’t get those in Sona. In the same episode, we will meet Lechero’s cousin, Augusto. [SpoilerFix.com]
Rescue Me
Remember last year’s rape controversy? That’s gonna look like a stroll through Smurf Village if Tommy does what it looks like he’s going to do at the very end of tonight’s episode. [Michael Ausiello]
Smallville
Between the new “Daily Planet” editor and the return of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Lois’ dance card will be plenty full this season. [Michael Ausiello]
The big news out of Comic-Con was the announcement that Dean Cain will be guest-starring in Episode 4 as a villain. [Michael Ausiello]
Also, the Season 7 clips that were shown at the panel apparently confirm that Chloe is very much alive. [Michael Ausiello]
Supernatural
Jeffrey Dean Morgan will not be returning any time soon. [Michael Ausiello]
The 4400
Two absent characters are returning—one of whom we thought was dead. [Kristin@E!Online]
The Dead Zone
One of the three major male actors from the original Dead Zone film is guest-starring in the season finale. [Michael Ausiello]
The Office
John Krasinski confirmed that Rashida Jones will be back for a “couple of episodes” this fall. “I think we’re going to find out where she went,” he says, “because she didn’t get to say her piece. I think she’ll come back, slap everyone in the face and then be done — it’ll be glorious!” [Michael Ausiello]
Regarding Jam, Krasinski says he hopes this season will find the star-crossed lovers enjoying all the ups and downs of coupledom. “I think it would be interesting to see, after all that pressure, what a relationship would be like. I feel like there would be some sort of awkwardness because there is a lot of pressure, and I think both those characters would feel that. There’s a lot of fun you could have with it.” [Michael Ausiello]
Ugly Betty
Henry is definitely sticking around this season. [Michael Ausiello]
Kevin Alejandro will be back on Betty next season. I won’t say in what capacity or for how long, but he will be back. [Michael Ausiello]
Amanda’s getting a new sidekick — and this one has four legs. Marc, meanwhile, is getting his first stalker in the form of a gay, overweight, average-looking shutterbug. [Michael Ausiello]
Wildfire
Season 4 — which kicks off in January — ends with a wedding. And it’s a wedding that fans have been clamoring for. [Michael Ausiello]
