This week: Bones, Brothers and Sisters, Criminal Minds, CSI, Heroes, House, Nip/Tuck and The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Bones
Do you remember that Vanished show with Gale Harold from last season that vanished from the airwaves? I hear that the mystery from that show is going to be resolved on Bones this season. [Kristin@E!Online]
According to show runner Hart Hanson, when the series premieres in the fall, we’ll pick up several months after last season’s finale, having missed “the amount of time that actually has past.” He also says this about the only thing you really care about (admit it!), the Bones and Booth romance: “We want to keep them apart as long as we can without annoying the audience, and there are a number of ways to do that. We use a number of little steam valves to release the pressure.” Boreanaz snickers at this, and Hanson shoots back, “I didn’t mean masturbation, David!” Also, according to Ms. Emily Deschanel, this season the show explores “how being left at the altar affected them.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Eric Millegan (and Hanson) confirm Zack Addy will be back this season, but they won’t confirm when or how. Eric did say, “He was sent home from Iraq early, and we’re going to explore why. [Kristin@E!Online]
According to executive producer Stephen Nathan, “Player Under Pressure,” the ep that was pulled in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings, will be reworked. The new version preserves the mystery elements and will bring the romantic storyline up to date. He expects it might air Dec. 7, and the old material (wherein Jack proposed to Angela) will hopefully appear on a DVD…sometime somewhere. [Kristin@E!Online]
Nathan tells me the network definitely wants the 28-episode season (because of the potential writers’ strike and because reruns don‘t “work” anymore), but he’s afraid postproduction limitations may prevent that from actually happening. He expects no fewer than 24 eps but says 28 might be stretching it. [Kristin@E!Online]
Executive producer Barry Josephson says they built out the FBI set this season, so look for more focus on the federales. And as a tease, he adds that the pressure releases for the Booth-Bones sexual tension may include more “third parties.” [Kristin@E!Online]
Brothers and Sisters
In the second episode of the new season, Justin returns home, seriously injured by an IED (bomb). The doctor informs Nora and Kitty that he’ll never be the same, but Nora refuses to believe him. McCallister unhappily deals with Kitty putting her foot in her mouth. While on the way to the hospital, a police officer pulls them over for speeding but recognizes Kitty. Nora and Kevin pretend to be fellow proud Republicans so she lets them off with a warning. There is a military funeral for an unnamed soldier. [SpoilerFix.com]
Criminal Minds
Geena Davis has fallen out of talks to be on Criminal Minds. [Kristin@E!Online]
CSI
Executive producer Carol Mendolsohn has told Michael Ausiello that a new female character will turn up in this season’s third episode. “[She] may be a CSI or lab tech,” the boss said. And, according to my casting spies, the junior detective will be in her mid-twenties, fresh out of college and lacking the capacity for self-censorship. [Michael Ausiello]
In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, CSI executive producer Jonathan Littman said the “Sara-Grissom story line is going to conclude.” [Michael Ausiello]
Fox will appear in the premiere. Says Mendolsohn: “We’re certainly going to be seeing her under the car in the premiere.” Whether that will require her to act or just to lie very, very still remains to be seen. [Michael Ausiello]
Heroes
Lyndsy Fonseca is out as Claire’s gay cheerleader pal. No, not out like that. She’s out as in, off the show. According to Heroes creator Tim Kring, Fonseca’s role had to be cut short after she landed that series-regular gig on Desperate Housewives. “She wasn’t a pivotal character,” Kring says of Claire’s pal, who will now appear in just one episode. “The idea was that that part would grow, but it never got a chance to.” [Michael Ausiello]
New Hero Dania Ramirez revealed that when we first meet her character, Maya, “she’s on the run from the cops.” [Michael Ausiello]
House
When the season starts “House is alone. And House is trying to solve cases by himself. Cuddy insists that he hire a new time. Over the first bunch of episodes, he’s going to call in [40 or so candidates] and see who survives. [Michael Ausiello]
They have actually hired five new doctors. Executive producer Kate Jacobs said: “We have deals with five actors that could potentially turn into series-regular deals.” [Michael Ausiello]
House won’t refer to his new minions by name, but by number. [Michael Ausiello]
Chase is working in Arizona when the season starts. And Cameron’s there visiting him. Foreman, meanwhile, is heading up his own diagnostic team at another hospital. [Michael Ausiello]
House’s post-Super Bowl episode will be the first of a two-parter. “It’s a lot of pressure,” Jacobs says of the high-profile slot. “I don’t think we’ll do anything too gimmicky.” [Michael Ausiello]
Nip/Tuck
Rosie O’Donnell is set to return to the hit FX series Nip/Tuck as garish lottery winner Dawn Budge. A mysterious man pops up and wreaks havoc on some of the patients. He’s nicknamed the Ass Bandit. Why? Because he pretends to be a doctor in order to fulfill his fetish of giving rectal exams. And guess who his first victim is said to be? None other than Ms. Dawn Budge! [Planet Gossip]
The Sarah Connor Chronicles
The show’s title may be changed to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. [Michael Ausiello]
Schwarzenegger is too “expensive” and “busy” to make a cameo on the show. [Michael Ausiello]
