30 Rock
Lorne Michaels thinks Alec Baldwin will return to 30 Rock next season. Tina Fey quickly jumps in with a more resolute, “He’ll be back.” [Michael Ausiello]
Bionic Woman
Katee Sackhoff, who plays Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, just inked a last-minute deal for a recurring role on NBC’s Bionic Woman. She has a guest spot in the pilot as a “bad” bionic woman and you’ve probably noticed that she has been played up pretty heavily in NBC’s promo spots for the new series. But, she only was scheduled to appear in the first few episodes… until last night. Sackhoff and NBC Universal came to a contract deal where her “bad” character will now be a recurring role. Brothers and Sisters
Danny Glover has been tapped to play Sally Field’s new love interest in 8 to 10 episodes this season, sources confirm to me exclusively. His character is Senator McCallister’s presidential-campaign manager, and is described as extremely smart and charming but also as a political shark. [Michael Ausiello]
CSI
CSI/Without a Trace crossover coming with William Peterson and Anthony La Paglia. [Michael Ausiello]
the powers that be at CSI are hoping to bring a Spanish-speaking actress on board this season. Her exact role is a mystery as of now, but we do know they’re looking for someone with telenovela experience. [Kristin@E!Online]
Apparently CSI franchise creator Anthony Zuiker is a geek for Second Life, so this season on CSI: NY they’re doing an episode that uses that neo-virtual reality environment to solve a crime. [Kristin@E!Online]
CSI: Miami
Horatio has a biological son. [Michael Ausiello]
Desperate Housewives
Lynette starts chemo therapy in the second episode of the season. It looks like Carlos may enlist the help of a friend he made in prison in order to “take care” of Edie. [TV Squad]
Susan goes to the gynecologist in the season premiere and it looks like the reason may be that she is pregnant. [SpoilerFix.com]
ER
It looks like this is going to be ER’s last season, and two, star Mekhi Phifer is leaving the show. [TV Squad]
Friday Night Lights
Executives are wooing Rosie O’Donnell to appear in an episode this fall. “Rosie’s a big fan of Friday Night Lights, as we know from The View, and we heard she was interested in being on the show,” executive producer Jason Katims says. “Usually we don’t do any stunt casting, but we have a character coming up — six or seven episodes into the new season; of a female soccer coach who is really angry about all of the school’s resources going to football. It’s a really funny character and I think she’d be perfect for it.” [Michael Ausiello]
“We may not play quite as many full-out games as we did last season,” says executive producer Jason Katims, adding that Season 2 picks up eight months later. [Michael Ausiello]
Katims reveals that the thug who tried to rape Tyra at the end of last season returns in the season premiere. And as a result something happens “that ties Landry and Tyra together in a very intimate way.” [Michael Ausiello]
10 things you must know about the new season:
1) One of the show’s big couples calls it quits.
2) Someone dies.
3) Someone commits murder.
4) The Panthers have a new coach.
5) Someone finds Jesus.
6) Matt’s grandma gets a live-in nurse.
7) Remember the name Gracie.

Matt Saracen gets some help taking care of his dear grandma at last. An at-home caregiver named Carlotta is about to get the job. But she’s twentysomething and could be kinda cute. [Kristin@E!Online]
Julie Taylor may have a thing or two to worry about—especially since plans for her family’s departure from Dillon seem to be moving forward. Aman by the name of Coach MacGregor has been hired by the Panthers to take over for Coach Taylor. [Kristin@E!Online]
The new season zooms forward eight months, and in the season premiere, Tami is in labor, and Eric comes back from Austin to be there for the birth. The Taylors immediately go into a five-ep arc about whether or not they made a mistake entering into this long-distance relationship. Tami’s dealing with an infant and a teenage daughter who’s “acting out more than she ever has,” while Eric is dealing with “what college football is like and coaching there and not being the head guy in charge. A lot of interesting dynamics come out of that.” According to Katims, “Eric and Tami are gonna be intensely connected from the beginning” of the season, rather than being separated into discrete stories or having an over-the-phone relationship. Ghost Whisperer
We’ll learn Jim and Melinda didn’t choose Grandview, Grandview chose Jim and Melinda. [Michael Ausiello]
Grey’s Anatomy
In addition to all the new interns running around Seattle Grace this fall, Shonda Rhimes plans to bring a slightly more mature physician into the Grey’s Anatomy mix as well. Producers are currently looking for a male doc around the age of 60 to play a recurring role. [Kristin@E!Online]
Heroes
Episode four of Heroes this season may be set in New Orleans. [Kristin@E!Online]
An upcoming episode, more than likely episode 2, will feature 60-year-old African-American Nana Dawson; Camilla, a southern woman in her 20s; cheerleader Camille; and Mr. Lakshmani, a 40-year-old Indian. [SpoilerFix.com]
Masi Oka, who plays time-traveling hero Hiro Nakamura on NBC’s Heroes , told SCI FI Wire that his character will remain in Japan for a while and will have a parallel story separate from the rest of the show when the second season kicks off in the fall. “Season two is going to begin with two parallel timelines going on,” Oka said in an interview at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 17. “One starting four months after the explosion and another-mainly Hiro’s storyline-starting 400 years in the past. And we’ll see how they kind of affect each other.” At the end of the hit show’s first season, Oka’s character found himself transported back in time to 16th-century Japan. According to Oka, Hiro will spend at least eight episodes there before returning to the present. There, he will encounter some of the characters from the stories of his childhood, including the legendary samurai Takezo Kensei, who will be played by David Anders (Sark from ABC’s Alias ). The show is currently finishing the third episode of the upcoming season. “There’s a princess,” Oka said. “Princess Iako, played by [Japanese pop star] Eriko Tamura, who’s going to be in that world, as well as David Anders, who plays Takezo Kensei. That was Hiro’s childhood hero that he’s always heard about these stories. But David Anders, last time we checked, he was Caucasian. So there’s a mystery there.” [SciFi Wire]
Jericho
The season premiere of Jericho opens with Stanley and Mimi getting engaged. [Michael Ausiello]
Law and Order
Jesse Martin, who only signed on for the first 13 episodes of L&O, may or may not stick around beyond that. “Jesse could stay on for the entire season or we could cast another new detective. It’s all up in the air,” Dick Wolf says. “Jesse has been doing this for a while. He’s kind of conflicted about it.” [Michael Ausiello]
My Name Is Earl
Earl won’t be sprung from the slammer anytime soon. “He’ll be in prison for a while,” says Executive Producer Greg Garcia. “Fortunately, Earl has a lot of friends in prison.” [Michael Ausiello]
My Name Is Earl’s Nadine Velasquez says, “The last I heard, I might explore being a lesbian and compete with Earl for girls. It’s not confirmed yet because the network has to approve it, but I love it.” [Michael Ausiello]
Numbers
Director Tony Scott (Top Gun, Man on Fire) will direct the season premiere of Numbers. [Michael Ausiello]
Prison Break
In the season premiere, Bellick and new friend Sapo must deal with Sammy, another inmate who wants both men to pay their “rent” by washing the latrines. Sapo cracks under pressure. T-Bag is at Sona as well. He seems to be in Lechero’s gang. Later, Bellick goes to Lechero and asks for food and clothing in exchange of information. [SpoilerFix.com]
It looks like they are recasting Sara Tancredi. Could it be that the actress, after giving birth, decided to take care of her baby and not come back to the show? Sara is set to make her first season appearance in episode 3, where we will see her next to a young make character we have seen many times before. [SpoilerFix.com]
Smallville
Look for Lex Luthor on Smallville to be saved by a mysterious blonde (Supergirl?) in the season premiere. Lex takes an interest in finding the fair-haired heroine, along with someone else who might be dead. [Kristin@E!Online]
