This week: Battlestar Galactica, Big Love, Bones, Brothers and Sisters, Burn Notice, CSI: New York, Desperate Housewives, ER, Eureka, Ghost Whisperer, Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, Monk, Jericho, One Tree Hill, Psych and Smallville.
Battlestar Galactica
The Centurions never evolved much because the human Cylons built in inhibitors that prevented higher brain function. Once that inhibitor is removed, the Centurions apparently open fire on the Cylon base ship. The Centurions weren’t firing out of anger . . . it was actually a calculated political move. Word about the existence of the Final Five starts spreading throughout the Cylon fleet, and since they may be hiding among the Colonials, the Centurions – who are now able to think for themselves – decide they can no longer fire on the fleet at risk of putting the Final Five in trouble. [SyFy Portal]
Four of the Final Five were revealed in the third season finale, and it’s unclear what kind of resurrection abilities – if any – these final Cylons have. But keeping a military force is important, and one of the Cylon human models removes part of the Centurion Raiders’ brain function to remove that independent thinking to make them attack anyway. What results is the equivalent of a Cylon civil war, or in this case, a skirmish as the battle doesn’t last long enough to be a civil war. Some of the humanoid Cylons will be lost in this confrontation permanently. The humanoid models are split on if they should continue attacking with the Final Five in the fleet, and when a vote doesn’t go the way one Cylon wants it to, the order is given to completely annihilate three models. Attacking all of them at once, and eliminating their ability to resurrect. [SyFy Portal]
There are unconfirmed reports that this episode also will feature the return of Lucy Lawless to the program, as there is some chatter that the actress has signed up for a similar contract she did in her limited run in Season 3. Also, another source reports that a new “named” Cylon will be introduced early in the fourth season, presenting yet another character for Tricia Helfer to play. [SyFy Portal]
Big Love
Ben’s gonna be in big trouble with Bill and Barb before the end of the season. The parentals finally wise up to his promiscuous ways with Brynn and decide to ship him off to live with Barb’s antipolygamist family far away. [Kristen@E!Online]
Bones
The spooky killer who’s putting together a perfect skeleton by taking one bone each from 206 bodies is going to be a threat to the Bones through a multiepisode arc, perhaps even the whole season. [Kristen@E!Online]
Brothers and Sisters
Justin will be getting a new love interest named Abby, and she’s 25-ish, which is a bit older than Rebecca (Emily VanCamp), though they do know each other from high school. Apparently, Abby is a somewhat exotic beauty who’s full of ambition and herself! But that doesn’t stop her from charming the pants off the people in her life. She will move in with Holly and Rebecca for a while and could work her way into a certain Walker’s life. [Kristen@E!Online]
Nora will have a new man in her life, courtesy of Sen. McCallister. Yep, the senator’s presidential campaign manager will be a big part of the show this year, and Nora’s definitely thinking about getting in on the action. [Kristen@E!Online]
Burn Notice
Creator Matt Nix talks about Michael’s mom: “Michael’s mom [Sharon Gless] brushes up against some of Michael’s jobs [as the season continues]. We never have her run around with a gun, but it turns out that she can handle herself much better than you would imagine. Part of the arc with mom is Michael rediscovering things about his mom that he didn’t know when he left at 17. She’s more than just a needy, clingy woman. She’s really got some resources, and she is much smarter than she let on.” [Kristen@E!Online]
Matt Nix talks about people following Michael: “We refer to them as ‘those guys.’ It’s not all FBI following him all the time for the entire arc of the season. Other people come to town; he interacts with other agencies while he is cleverly working his way back to somebody who can tell him what is going on. And then he gets back there, and it turns out even more complicated than he realized.” [Kristen@E!Online]
CSI: New York
They’re adding two new recurring characters: A female lab tech/possible love interest for Adam, and a “hip and charming” forged-documents expert who may catch Stella’s eye. [Michael Ausiello]
Desperate Housewives
There’s a new family coming to town this fall, although the missus and her daughter are actually old “friends” of Bree Hodge (formerly Van De Kamp) and Julie Mayer, having lived in Fairview once before. Negotiations are reportedly going quite well to bring in Dana Delany and Nathan Fillion for the adult roles. Lyndsy Fonseca’s deal is already done, and they hope to have her TV parents on board by the end of the week. There will definitely be flashbacks of a six-year-old Julie Mayer and her recently returned old pal daydreaming about what the future holds—of course, life doesn’t always turn out as one expects. [Kristen@E!Online]
ER
According to producers, it’s not out of the question for Shane West to return, but it’s also not likely. He’s definitely not back as a regular, but it’s possible (although not planned) for him to return for a guest spot. [Kristen@E!Online]
Eureka
Fargo finds himself in quite the predicament when he gets stuck in a force field. [Kristen@E!Online]
Ghost Whisperer
Jay Mohr is back full time on the show in the fall. [Kristen@E!Online]
The network is pushing for more “mythology” (versus strictly stand-alone episodes) in season three. [Kristen@E!Online]
Grey’s Anatomy
With the exits of Isaiah Washington and Kate Walsh, you can certainly expect a few newbies to repopulate Seattle Grace. They’re casting some recurring characters right now, including a couple of interns whom we meet in the season premiere—who may just be friends with Meredith Grey’s little sister. [Kristen@E!Online]
Two new interns will be introduced in the season premiere (three if you include Lexie). And they’ll have their hands full when a three-car accident sends multiple casualties pouring into Seattle Grace. [Michael Ausiello]
Heroes
Two of the new characters have something in common with Barbara and Jenna Bush. [Kristen@E!Online]
Jericho
The show welcomes a new character in the premiere: Col. Hoffman, a reliable and experienced military man, just might fill the void left by Mayor Johnston Green (Gerald McRaney). Apparently, he’s a good family guy, known for being faithful to his wife (who has been missing since the attacks) and fair to the men in his command. He plays a key role this year. [Kristen@E!Online]
Monk
In the season premiere, “Mr. Monk and His Biggest Fan,” Sarah Silverman (who is absolutely gorgeous in real life, by the way) returns to nerd it up as Monk stalker Marci Maven. Two of the absolute highlights are Sarah singing the “Adrian” song (while accompanying herself on the guitar) and the diorama version of Natalie. [Kristen@E!Online]
One Tree Hill
As you know, we’re fast-forwarding four-plus years into the future, but it looks like much of the gang will be back in Tree Hill this fall. We’re hearing that Lucas could be coaching the illustrious Ravens basketball team, in fact, and really getting into it with a kid named Quentin, the star player who’s selfish and arrogant. [Kristen@E!Online]
Psych
In the season premiere, Shawn and Gus go undercover at an Idol rip-off called American Duos to protect the show’s bitchy British judge, Nigel St. Nigel, from an assassin. Tim Curry is wonderful as Nigel, and Gina Gershon also guests in a hilarious turn as a fellow judge, one-time pop star and present-day space cadet Saffron. [Kristen@E!Online]
Rescue Me
Jack McGee’s gonna have another reason to despise Denis Leary when he sees the lame send-off the chief gets tonight. (Wait until he finds out where they consider storing his ashes.) Also in tonight’s ep, we’ll find out that someone’s been harboring a secret — and borderline stalkerish — crush on Tommy. One hint: It’s not a woman. [Michael Ausiello]
Smallville
Jimmy Olsen is no longer in the season premiere. [Kristen@E!Online]
A female’s body is brought to the morgue in the premiere . . . but don’t forget there was more than one main female death in last season’s finale. [Kristen@E!Online]
