24

As executive producer David Fury teased, Renee is a damaged person upon returning next season. However, Kiefer Sutherland says they are really trying to find peace for Jack, which includes all things that have the potential to make him happy. “People would like to see him at least have the option to have a good life,” Sutherland says. “We stripped a lot of those components over the years, by virtue of killing everybody, that whether he wants to live or die seemed to become innocuous—like who cares, there’s nothing really to live for. What we did for this season is to really try and create something that would make Jack want to live.” (Watch With Kristin)

“I don’t know with regard to the last season,” says Kiefer Sutherland. “It is the last season that I’ve been contracted to do 24, but I really don’t know.” (Watch With Kristin)

If it truly is Jack’s last hurrah, the producers are planning some return visits from seasons past. “There’s certainly a chance of [bringing back old characters]. We’ve certainly been talking about that,” says David Fury. “At this point, we’re only in the first third of the season, but we have begun to discuss some of the characters that could return.” Fury says he really wants to see Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) return to the show. “If Tony [Carlos Bernard] is still alive, there’s every chance that Teri pulled through,” jokes Fury. In all seriousness, there’s a likely possibility that Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) and Mandy (Mia Kirshner) could appear. Also, “You may see Tony—there may be an opportunity for Tony to be pivotal in the show,” adds Fury. (Watch With Kristin)

Brothers and Sisters

Among the storylines you can watch for this fall: Kitty and Robert are still putting on a “happily married” façade as he runs for governor, Kevin and Scotty hope for a baby, and Justin’s busy pursuing his doctor dream. Guest stars include Gilles Marini (as Sarah’s latest dalliance) and Marion Ross, reprising her role as Nora and Saul’s mean mom. (TV Guide)

Chuck

The Season 3 opener features a three-month time jump that has less-than-satisfactory results. (TV Guide)

CSI

Lauren Lee Smith will not be returning as a series regular for season 10. Executive producer Naren Shankar says Smith’s character, Riley, got lost in the shuffle following Warrick, Sara and Grissom’s departures, adding the character “never quite found its footing in terms of the rest of the gang.” Meanwhile, Shankar says Sara (played by Jorja Fox) will return to the show “because the team is understaffed.” (TV Guide Magazine)

CSI: Miami

Eddie Cibrian’s Jesse Cardoza, a transfer from Los Angeles, gets taken hostage on his very first day. During the crisis, he performs a heroic deed that requires him to take off his shirt, as heroic deeds often do. But Cardoza’s first day won’t come until Season 8’s second episode: The Sept. 21 season premiere will flash back to 1997, when we’ll learn about his past connection to Horatio. (TV Guide)

CSI: New York

Expect to see everyone who knew Angell to mourn her loss — and for Detective Flack to deal with it by focusing on his work. His best tribute to her, he decides, is to be the best cop he can be. (TV Guide)

Desperate Housewives

Shawn Pyfrom is moving out of Wisteria Lane. Pyfrom, who plays Bree’s (Marcia Cross) son, Andrew, on the show, is leaving to “pursue new television and film opportunities,” according to a source. Pyfrom will still make a couple of guest appearances next season. (People)

Entourage

Seth Green says he will not be appearing this season on Entourage, but he is actively talking to the producers for a return in the seventh season. (Watch With Kristin)

Ghost Whisperer

In the new season, Ned is a college student, studying the paranormal at Grandview’s very own Rockland University. As 21-year-old Christoph Sanders points out, “This season I’ll be playing my own age! Eli [Jamie Kennedy] is one of my teachers!” Their collaborations include the Book of Secrets and understanding “how powerful [Melinda's son] will be and what kind of powers he will have.” Ned’s also getting busy in the romance department—even though he’s still living with his mom, Delia. As Camryn Manheim tells us: “All of a sudden he’s bringing girls home, and I’m bringing guys home, and it’s a different dynamic.” (Watch With Kristin)

Gossip Girl

Show runner Josh Schwartz, who tells us: “Well, you know Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) is coming back even though she is at Mercy. She is going to have a very unexpected roommate and a very unexpected love interest.” (Watch With Kristin)

Lie To Me

Lie to Me’s new executive producer, Shawn Ryan, says the show isn’t ruling out any romantic options. “Cal Lightman is a healthy, single man spending a lot of time around Gillian [Kelli Williams] and Zoe [Jennifer Beals], temptation would certainly be understandable.” (TV Guide)

Lost

Elizabeth Mitchell talking about Juliet returning: “Pretty immediately, and then I’m not sure after that.” “I think it will be satisfactory.” (Watch With Kristin)

Mad Men

Many things transpire in the season three premiere of Mad Men, now that the British have taken over Sterling-Cooper, including some “restructurings” that put two fan favorites in contention for the same job. (Watch With Kristin)

Nurse Jackie

We find out that a main character is losing his/her job at All Saint’s Hospital, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he/she is completely out of the picture. (Watch With Kristin)

Rescue Me

We’ll learn that Maura Tierney’s character has a real thing for New York’s Bravest, as she tangles with at least three firefighters. But don’t worry: She cares more about what’s in that briefcase than about any of the guys of 62 Truck. And with good reason: It has a very high street value. (TV Guide)

Smallville

Despite getting the boot from the Daily Planet last season, Erica Durance says, “[Lois] for sure finds her way back there, investigating things, getting into trouble and getting rescued. It wouldn’t be Lois Lane if she wouldn’t.” (Watch With Kristin)

Executive producer Brian Peterson talking about the new season: “We’re introducing [Callum Blue] as Major Zod, before he even turns into General Zod, so we get to see his trajectory into becoming the villain he’s known as. We’ve never had a Kryptonian living on Earth with Clark for an entire season, and [to see] how that affects Clark’s journey,” says Peterson. “We’re going to be exploring a lot of that this year, without trying to do too much time jumping and alternate universes. We’re going to try to explore the relationship between Zod and Clark, and what if that were different? Zod and Jor-El, and what if that had been different in the past? In the first six episodes, we’re going to get to it pretty quickly.” (Watch With Kristin)

Sons of Anarchy

Something horrifying happens in the season two premiere.

Supernatural

Castiel has his own agenda that will be revealed at the end of episode two. Very big stuff. (Watch With Kristin)

Bobby’s going to have a tougher time helping the boys this season, for reasons that must currently remain unrevealed. (Watch With Kristin)

True Blood

Daphne will have quite a bit to say about who Maryann is and what it is that she’s doing. (TV Guide)

Warehouse 13

Leena (played by Genelle Williams) has something going on behind her eyes. You can count on seeing Artie’s friend in at least four more episodes — including the season finale, in which she figures prominently. (TV Guide)
