This week: Supersized reports on 24, Desperate Housewives, Gilmore Girls and Lost as well as normal coverage of Alias, Big Love, Charmed, Prison Break, Scrubs and more. Now let’s get to the spoilers . . . (SPOILERS BELOW)

24

Jack is going to land the plane on the freeway. It will go down next week and the first time you see it landing is through the window in Curtis’ car. This is one of the biggest CGI stunts the producers have ever done, so they were a little nervous as to how it might turn out.

Speaking of Curtis, he’ll be back in the game and helping out Jack.

The show was filming at the Naval base in San Diego last week and the submarine they were using was given the Russian name Natalia.

Jude Ciccolella (Mike Novack) on the Season Finale: “We’re going to get some satisfaction at the end of the year. Also, what happened this year? Dennis Haysbert was assassinated. A lot of people feel bad about that, and there will be some closure on that. Psychologically. I’m not telling you what’s going to happen, but I would hope that there’s some justice and some measure of psychological resolution.”

Producer Howard Gordon on Whether the President has to Die Because He’s Evil: “Well you have to understand, when we told Greg [Itzin] that ‘This is what happens. Your character’s behind this,’ he was hemming and hawing and it wasn’t the best day,, I think. And I got these single page missives from him [about] why this wasn’t [the way to go], and I think what he was seeing was, ‘Oh s**t, that’s it for me.’ But that’s not true. And once he embraced it, I think it’s some of his best work. I think it’s just remarkable, and what’s great is you have this 24 hour period, there’s not a lot of places for a character to go, so for him to be this guy that is so different from the guy we thought he was has just been fantastic.”

Producer Evan Katz on Who’ll Be Back Next Year: “We’re still figuring it out. It’s difficult. We know the audience likes seeing familiar faces, especially when they’ve undergone transformations in the off screen time. But I think the audience also doesn’t like when people are sort of brought back for no good reason, other than that they’re familiar, so we also are really intent on trying not to repeat ourselves, and there are certain situations next year that we just can’t keep playing over and over again. You know, it’s sort of why Kim Bauer disappeared at a certain point, which is we really felt we had exhausted that character. So, to really answer your question would be to give too much away. And the real truth is, we’re not sure.”

Gordon on Moving 24 Out of LA: Well, that would be a fantasy. I just want to get out of L.A. I feel like L.A. is starting to get a little battle worn. And we’re still flirting with the idea of doing an arc somewhere, London, Japan. I know those territories where the fans are strong, we’d love to get there and change the color, so that it’s a different time zone. But the timing may not allow for that, and maybe the movie will give us that opportunity.”

Gordon on whether Jack Bauer will ever settle down with a woman and be happy: “No. No. Never. Never ever. No, this show is really a tragedy, and I think what you kind of see is the sort of mounting tragedy on Kiefer’s face. He wears it very, very well, and this is a guy who sacrifices everything for us, to keep us safe. But he’s paying the price. I think he’s a little bit like Tony Soprano. I think they share a lot more than you’d imagine.”

Alias

In the first part of the Alias two-hour Finale event, ‘Reprisal,’ Sloane takes Marshall and Rachel hostage in order to discover a crucial clue to Rambaldi’s ultimate endgame, as Sydney, Vaughn and APO race to stop him. In the second part, ‘All the Time in the World,’ Sydney and Jack must find a way to keep Sloane and Irina from putting their deadly plan into action.

Big Love

In this Sunday’s episode, Margene learns that a family vote was held to decide whether she was worthy of the Henrickson name — and there was only one dissenter. Also, Margene gets fixed up on a blind date and Bill finds out about Nicki’s shopping addiction.

Charmed

The Charmed Ones are forced to make unusual alliances when preparing for the final battle. Meanwhile, Billie and Christy hope to gain an advantage by tapping into the power of a forbidden artifact, but its effects are unpredictable.

Desperate Housewives

A series of flashbacks take us back to moving-in day on Wisteria lane for Bree, Susan, Gaby and Lynette, and to how Mary Alice Young brought them all together. Meanwhile Bree gets some frightening news, Susan moves into a trailer, Lynette faces a crisis in her marriage and Gaby and Carlos learn more about Xiao-Mei.

Richard Burgi reveals: [The breakup with Edie] doesn’t go over very well. It’s met with some, uh, anger, as you could imagine, and a buildup of venom. I think [Edie] gets a little “hot.” She puts a little mojo out there. All kinds of things happen as a result of it. The fallout is chaotic and widespread. [Edie will soon learn that Susan is the other woman.] She finds out with some prodding and assiduous investigation. Once she finally comes to terms with it, she takes action and it’s, uh, not pretty.

Richard Burgi also said: “I’ve heard that rumor [about Susan discovering that she is pregnant]…. [Evil laugh] It’s very possible that since she and Karl “got together,” something comes out of that. But I don’t think there’s anything I can say about that.”

Carlos and Gaby have an issue on their hands besides the baby: their live-in maid, Xiao Mei. She is keeping something from the Solises that we’ll discover in the season finale. There are rumors that her storyline will spill over into season three.

ER

May 4th episode: “There Are No Angels Here”. Dr. Pratt settles into his new job in Africa’s Darfur region but is troubled by astounding number of people needing care when a sheik and his pregnant wife come into Ramalah camp looking for treatment. Dr. Carter and Dr. Dakarai (guest star Eamonn Walker, “Oz”) work on fixing the man’s gunshot wound, but they are quickly interrupted by government officials who try to arrest the victim. As Carter works on delivering the wife’s baby, he sees that the mother is suffering from birth complications. Pratt and Dakarai are forced to make journey at night to a hospital in El Fashir at the risk of getting stopped by the Janjaweed militant group. Meanwhile, Debbie (guest star Mary McCormack) tries to convince Dakarai to seek proper treatment for his medical condition.

May 11th episode: “The Gallant Hero & The Tragic Victor”. Freshly back from Africa’s Darfur region, Dr. Pratt struggles to get the real story when two abused boys come into the E.R. with their injured father. Neela is nervous when she is urgently called up to Dr. Dubenko’s office, but is quickly relieved when she gets the good news. Meanwhile, the arrival of two U.S. Army officers has the staff worried that it might mean bad news. After Dr. Clemente’s strange behavior puts some of his patients in jeopardy, Dr. Kovac forces him to take a break. After bickering for months, Morris and Albright can’t seem to fight the sexual tension between them.

May 18th episode: “Twenty-One Guns”. Chaos strikes when injured jailbirds come into County General looking to escape their prison time. With the help of an accomplice posing as an E.M.T., the fugitives force one of the nurses to become a part of the melee. As the gunmen get more and more desperate to make it out of the hospital, they decide to resort to extreme measures and Dr. Kovac unknowingly puts himself in harms way. Gunshots ring out in the lobby and Abby slips to the ground. Meanwhile, Pratt tries to persuade Neela as she attends to Gallant’s concerned parents (guest stars Ernie Hudson, and Sheryl Lee Ralph).

Gilmore Girls

In the sixth-season finale, Lorelai tries to avoid Luke and ends up pouring her heart out to a psychologist (Melora Hardin) who was invited to dinner at her parents’ house. Elsewhere, Rory tries to avoid the Huntzbergers, particularly Mitchum, as she attends Logan’s graduation and prepares for his inevitable departure; and Taylor’s bothered by an influx of troubadours to Stars Hollow.

Here are some highlights from the Season Finale:

Lorelai does something she’s never done before — and in the back seat of a car. And when it was over, I saw her in a whole new light.

Lorelai finally utters the L word to Luke. And not just once, but twice.

Lorelai’s backbone grew back just in time for her to confront Luke about April, Anna and the wedding.

Kelly Bishop has at least five classic lines, two of which are directed at her maid.

Logan and Rory’s final scene is a tearjerker.

Mary Lynn Rajskub can’t carry a tune to save her life.

Christopher will be show up with Richard and Emily in the season finale, and they try to play matchmaker, setting him up with Jan Levinson-Gould from The Office.

The final scene between Rory and Logan is not so much “goodbye forever” as it is “goodbye for the hiatus. Remember Matt Czuchry is coming back next season.

Rory has another memorable run-in with Logan’s dad, only this time it’s Mitchum Huntzberger who knocks some sense into her.

Dan Palladino plays one of the many troubadours in next week’s finale. He’s the guy singing “A Beaver Ate My Thumb.”

Grey’s Anatomy

Isaiah Washington, commenting on what will happen between Burke and Cristina, “It’s going to be rocky for awhile. You can maybe [liken] it to the Shakespearean play Taming of The Shrew. If you can understand that struggle, The War of The Roses, it’s going to be that kind of struggle between Burke and Christina. It’s not going to be an easy road, but they are obviously very, very much in love. I can say that much.“

Lost

In the season finale Jack and Sayid discover something odd just offshore, and come up with a plan to confront ‘The Others’ and hopefully get Walt back. Meanwhile, Eko and Locke come to blows as Locke makes a potentially cataclysmic decision regarding the ‘button’ and the hatch.

The Michael-Walt storyline will be resolved in the final four episodes.

Malcolm David Kelley, who plays Walt, hasn’t had a growth spurt, so he looks the same as he did at the end of the first season. They will, however, be dealing with him growing in the third season.

We will learn more about the Dharma Initiative in the final episodes of this season.

Desmond will shed some more light on his experience on the island in the three years prior to the plane crash.

The question-mark episode is about finding out what that question mark on that map means.

We may find out how Locke became paralyzed (or the reveal might get pushed to the third season, or not at all).

Claire and Charlie, and their relationship will start figuring back into the storylines.

There will be more backstory on Rousseau in season three or four including flashbacks about the wrecked research vessel.

They will be introducing new characters in Season three, including some of the mysterious background survivors. By the end of the finale you’ll be getting some sense of who those characters might be.

My Name Is Earl

May 4th Episode: “BB”. Earl sets out to make up for number 147 on his list – “Shot Gwen Waters with a BB gun” – but first, he must reunite Gwen with her estranged father. Getting dad to cooperate proves incredibly difficult, but Earl refuses to give up, partly because he remembers why he used to have a crush on Gwen Waters – and he always liked to see her smile.

May 11th episode: “Number One” Season Finale. In the super-sized season finale, Darnell suggests that Earl cross off number-one from his list – “stole $10 from a guy at the Camden Market” – but Earl soon discovers that he owes the guy all of his lotto winnings. Now penniless, Earl wonders when his karma is going kick in and turn his misfortunes around for the better.

The Office

May 4th episode: “Conflict Resolution”. When Michael takes over conflict resolution duties from the Human Relations department, chaos ensues at Dunder Mifflin.

May 11th episode: “Casino Night” Season Finale. Michael and the Dunder Mifflin crew hold a “Casino Night” for charity in their warehouse – and take some big gambles.

Prison Break

Sucre is [getting out]! I can tell you that,” Amaury Nolasco revealed at the Prison Break wrap party.

Guess who else is going to break out . . . Tweener! Lane Garrison argued that Tweener is not a snitch, but was just trying to survive. I guess Michael will see it that way too, because he’s keeping Tweener in the escape loop even though he’s betrayed them. Michael is a man who pays off his debts . . . And Tweener is not the only inmate he owes.

Silas Weir Mitchell, who plays Haywire, said we haven’t seen the last of him. “I’m too smart not to have some impact on the escape. I know too much! Haywire’s a wild card. You never know where you might find me!”

Also around next year will be C-Note, Agent Kellerman and T-Bag.

Nick (Savrinn) will not kill Veronica. He also may not be back for season two.

By the end of the hour of the second to the last episode, we’ll know which two inmates will be left behind. Also, two people not involved in the actual escape will be killed.

Rescue Me

Marisa Tomei has finally signed on the dotted line to play Tommy’s sister-in-law/lover.

Scrubs

Sarah Lancaster will reprise her role as Lisa the Gift Shop Girl in Scrubs‘ May 16 season finale. No, J.D.’s longtime crush is not the one who’s pregnant. I hear she turns up in a flashback sequence.

Smallville

Brainiac’s actions will have a MAJOR impact on the season finale. It airs this Thursday.

It looks like James Marsters will return to Smallville next season on The CW. No word on for how many episodes.

The Sopranos

Julianna Margulies will continue on The Sopranos. Word is she will be around into the final episodes in 2007.

Will & Grace

May 4th episode: “Partners ‘N Crime”. Will and Grace begin attending child-birth classes in preparation for the expected baby, but as Will and Vince (guest star Bobby Cannavale) take another chance at their relationship, Grace starts to doubt whether Will is ready to raise a child together with her. Meanwhile, Karen looks to Jack for comfort as her marriage with Stan hits a bumpy road but finds that Jack is a little preoccupied with his new television show.

May 11th episode: “Whatever Happened to Baby Gin?”. Just as Grace and Will are settling into the idea of raising the baby together, Will’s boyfriend Vince (guest star Bobby Cannavale) surprises him with an announcement that will lead Will to choose between his commitment to Grace and his relationship with Vince. Meanwhile, Karen shocks everyone when she announces the she has a sister, Gin (guest star Bernadette Peters), who was injured as a child during a game of Twister. Josh Lucas, on the other hand, comforts Jack after a devastating discovery when his new show “The Badge” premieres.

Veronica Mars

The second season ends as Veronica, on her graduation day, learns who is responsible for the bus crash. After uncovering the culprit, her life is endangered as she tries to warn those closest to the killer. Also, Wallace learns some surprising information about Jackie, and the seniors celebrate their graduation with a lavish party at the Neptune Grand.

In the season finale, a few people will be killed, making the total number of people that have died 21, in 44 episodes.
