The CW has given a full-season order to One Tree Hill. The network had ordered just 13 episodes of the show this season, but the early pickup gives the show a full seventh season.

The CW also ordered additional scripts for The Vampire Diaries and Melrose Place. The order is a good sign that a full-season order is coming soon. The show holds the record as the CW’s most-watched premiere ever. Melrose Place hasn’t performed as well as expected, but the network is still hoping for improvement once Heather Locklear joins the show in November. Executives think the show is on track to earn an order for additional scripts.

The network is waiting to see how the second episode The Beautiful Life: TBL, performs before ordering any more episodes. The show struggled in its opening and now faces even tougher competition against ABC’s new comedies.
