Welcome to the Monday edition of What To Watch.

Tuesday nights are wearing out my DVR at the 9 pm/ET hour with new episodes of House (Fox), The Unit (CBS) and Reaper (The CW). NBC has premieres of Carpoolers and Cavemen at 8 pm/ET, followed by a new episode of Law and Order: SVU. Also new tonight, Cane (CBS) and Boston Legal (ABC).

House – 9 pm/ET FOX

Let the games begin. House has assembled 40 candidates to replace Foreman, Chase and Cameron, and he’ll begin to weed them out tonight. The candidates, in turn, will second-guess and backstab each other as though they were reality-show contestants. But they’ll also assist House in his diagnosis of an astronaut candidate who has had a neurological episode and doesn’t want NASA to know about it.

Fox has new episodes of Prison Break and K-Ville. The CW has a night of premieres with Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens in America, Girlfriends, The Game. NBC has a great lineup with all new episodes of Chuck, Heroes and Journeyman while ABC has new episodes of Dancing With The Stars and The Bachelor. Prison Break – 8 pm/ET FOX

If you’re confused about why the Company wants Michael in Sona, the reason Sara and LJ have been abducted, and the role that the fisherman Whistler plays in all of this, tonight’s episode should clear the fog just a bit. At least Michael and Linc have a mission, which is something you can’t say about Mahone and Bellick. The latter pair are just rotting away in Sona, and Mahone gets more bad news tonight. Meanwhile, Sucre might not be in jail but he’s in a bad way as well, so he resorts to rotgut.

CBS has new episodes of Jericho, Criminal Minds and CSI: New York while ABC has new episodes of Dancing With The Stars, Lost and The Nine.

Lost – 9 pm/ET ABC

Things got off with a bang last week, didn’t they? We now know that Henry Gale’s real name is Ben and that he’s not particularly gentle. But what’s the Others’ story? That’s for J.J., Damon, Carlton and company to know and for us to find out when they’re ready to tell us. (“It doesn’t matter who we were,” Juliet told Jack. “It only matters who we are.”) But whatever’s up, it’ll mean a “very unpleasant” two weeks for Kate, Sawyer and Jack, beginning tonight. Sayid is out to rescue them, but we’ll see how far he gets. Sun and Jin are the backstory stars.

Welcome to the Tuesday edition of What To Watch. Tonight the CW has new episodes of Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. CBS has an all new NCIS followed by a new episode of The Unit and then what ever rerun is replacing the recently cancelled Smith. NBC has new episodes of Friday Night Lights and Law & Order CI and SVU while ABC has an all new Dancing With The Stars followed by new episodes of Help Me Help You and Boston Legal. Remember Fox is running the MLB playoffs so no House or Standoff tonight.

Gilmore Girls – 8 pm/ET CW

Emily barely reacts to the news of Lorelai’s breakup, and Lorelai’s forced to attend a cotillion organized by Emily. Those two events provide great scenes between them and add another layer to our understanding of their complex bond. Elsewhere: Rory and Logan, an ocean between them, their Sidekicks in hand, and some dirty imaginations.

Tonight, wannabe superhero Hiro springs into action to save New York City from the terrifying explosion he witnessed last week. In other happenings, L.A. cop Matt Parkman is questioned about his knowledge of the mysterious serial killer Sylar, whom Mohinder is able to track down — well, sort of. And Claire, the poor dear, tries to be a normal teen, but something major happens to prevent it.

Grey’s Anatomy – 9 pm/ET ABC

So they’re “dating.” You didn’t really expect Meredith to make up her mind last week, did you? It’ll be interesting to see how long Shonda Rhimes can string this out, but in case it begins to get boring, it’s nice to see “McSteamy” back in the picture (and in Addison’s bed). Also tonight, Izzie’s back, sort of; and “Little Miss Sunshine” Abigail Breslin guest stars as a troubled foster child.
