VH1 announced that VH1 Divas will return with a new live concert special on Thursday, September 17 at 9:00 PM. The latest edition will focus on a younger crop of singers including Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus. The program will be telecast from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House. Additional performers and presenters will be announced later.
First premiering in 1998, past VH1 Divas specials have included Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Cher, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan and Mary J. Blige.

Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew is coming back for a third season on VH1 in early 2010, with Tom Sizemore and Heidi Fleiss among the coming edition’s participants. Eight episodes will air during the third season of Celebrity Rehab, covering the 21-day intensive program led by Dr. Drew Pinsky. The second season, which wrapped up in December, averaged 1.3 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49.

VH1 is bringing back Behind the Music. The cable network is ordering about 10 new episodes of the show, bringing back the iconic documentary program that ran for seven years on VH1 starting in 1997. Lil Wayne and Scott Weiland have signed on to participate, and the network is near agreements with several other performers.
VH1 had a reminder of the show’s popularity last fall when it aired a New Kids on the Block special. The event showed the group’s first public performance in more than a decade along with a Behind The Music retrospective.

With Spike TV recently announcing its Dallas Cowboys competition series with Michael Irvin, now VH1 is getting into business with Terrell Owens. VH1 will air a docusoap reality series following the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, his best friends and publicists as they enjoy the NFL off-season. “We are thrilled to bring such a great athlete, who is one of the biggest names and personalities in all the world of sports to VH1 for a surprising high octane look inside his superstar life off the field,” said Jeff Olde, executive vp programming at VH1. The series is untitled, and will launch in the summer.
