The CW Officially Cancels Veronica Mars

June 11th, 2007 | 0 Comments

The CW has officially pulled the plug on Veronica Mars. Series creator Rob Thomas confirmed the news to Michael Ausiello:

“I’m afraid I have to report that Veronica Mars is officially dead,” he wrote. “At least in TV show form. There’s really no way that it can happen now. I’m not sure the CW should’ve given the glimmer of hope. I think Dawn Ostroff genuinely would have liked to have continued on with a version of the show, but there was too much resistance around her. At the end of the day, it would’ve been kinder had the band aid simply been ripped off rather peeled away in than this agonizingly slow manner.”

Well, there is always a chance for a motion picture. This also leaves Kristen Bell open to continue narrating The CW’s new show, Gossip Girls.

The CW Looking To Send Veronica Mars To The FBI

May 8th, 2007 | 0 Comments

With Gilmore Girls not returning next season, the network suddenly has an extra hour of prime time to fill and sources say that is giving Veronica Mars new life. The CW’s president Dawn Ostroff is said to have responded very favorably to the trailer that series creator Rob Thomas shot for a potential reworking of the show with Veronica as an FBI agent. On the strength of that presentation, Thomas has been asked for more details of the proposed revamp. Big changes are afoot – starting at the very top. They’ve talked about a title change, and there would likely be a major cast shake-up, with Bell the only guaranteed carryover.

Veronica Mars Not Yet Cancelled, Fourth Season Uncertain

March 16th, 2007 | 4 Comments

Kristin@E!Online is reporting that several solid sources have informed her that The CW has decided not to bring back Veronica Mars for a fourth season. The CW has not official commented on the future of the show. Veitch did talk to show creator Rob Thomas earlier this week and he told her that things weren’t looking good: “I’ve never been less certain of our fate. I’m afraid I’ve gone from cautiously optimistic to something less than that.”

Now as rumors of the cancellation swirl around the internet, Kristin contacted Thomas again and he was unware of being cancelled: “If we’re canceled, I certainly don’t know about it.” So the plan for Thomas is filming a trailer for an alternative fourth season where Mars is studying at the FBI Academy as we reported earlier. Once Thomas submits the trailer to CW executives then they will decide if and how they will bring Veronica Mars back for a fourth season.

Thomas Building Alternate Plot For Veronica Mars

March 16th, 2007 | 2 Comments

Veronica Mars might be looking at a quick graduation from Hearst College. The fate of the CW’s cult favorite remains uncertain, but if the show returns for a fourth season in the fall, it might find the young sleuth in a different setting. Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas has come up with an idea to fast-forward a couple of years and have Mars studying at the FBI Academy. (As a freshman at Hearst College, Kristen Bell’s title character has been taking criminology classes looking to do an internship at the FBI.)

Thomas is filming a trailer for an alternative fourth season, which will be submitted to the CW. The network’s executives ultimately will decide whether to pick up the series for another season and, if they do, whether to stick to the drama’s current plot line or go with the new version. If Mars goes to the FBI Academy next season, it will be a third backdrop for the character, who began her P.I. adventures while in high school.
