The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family)
Olympic gold medalist and Dancing with the Stars champ Shawn Johnson is set to return to the show. Johnson will play a student at Ulysses S. Grant High School who interacts with Jack (Greg Finley) and Grace (Megan Park) in an episode scheduled to air in early 2010. Johnson first appeared on Secret Life’s September 2008 midseason finale.

TV Guide Network has picked up the cable rerun rights to ABC’s Ugly Betty. Under the deal with Disney-ABC Domestic TV, TV Guide will begin airing the show this fall, after the show’s October 9 season premiere. The cable network will air the series’ new installments within two weeks of their run on ABC. The episodes will also be available on Hulu.com and ABC.com the day after their initial broadcast on ABC.

The nominations in the major category were announced early Thursday morning by Parsons and Chandra Wilson of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy who were joined by the chairman of the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences John Shaffner.
Fox hit Family Guy became the first animated series in nearly 50 years, and the second ever, to land a best comedy series nomination, following The Flintstones in 1961.
Seven half-hours made it in to the best comedy series category, with two more first-timers, HBO’s offbeat The Flight of the Conchords, CBS’ often overlooked How I Met Your Mother and Showtime’s veteran Weeds. They will compete against defending champ 30 Rock, previous winner The Office and HBO’s Entourage.
