Bones (Fox)
The show has finally cast a grandfather for David Boreanaz’s Seeley Booth. Hank Booth, a former army EMT, will be played by Ralph Waite, who played patriarch John Walton on The Waltons from 1972-81. Ralph, now 81, was cast after James Garner, also 81, proved too ill to take on the role.

The CW Cancels Kutcher’s Beautiful Life

The CW has canceled The Beautiful Life, making it this fall’s first cancellation. Production on the show, which had been filming its seventh episode, was shut down Friday. The Beautiful Life has been pulled off the schedule effective immediately and will be replaced by repeats of Melrose Place, starting next week.

The show, which launched with a racy marketing campaign, starred Mischa Barton, Corbin Bleu, Benjamin Hollingswoth, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Madekwe, Elle MacPherson and Sara Paxton.

Premiering Tonight 09.25.09

The 2009 Fall Season is upon us and that signals the return of Premiering Tonight. Welcome to Premiering Tonight, highlighting all the new and returning shows premiering on the Fall 2009 schedule.

Premiering tonight on TV are the season premieres of Smallville, Brothers, Ghost Whisperer, Law and Order, Dollhouse, Medium and Numbers.

Smallville – 8:00 PM/ET on The CW
Season 9 opens with Clark ready to begin his training with Jor-El, who instructs him to first end things with Lois. Lois returns to work with no memory of where she’s been and meets a new reporter John Corben (Brian Austin Green) while on assignment who has a secret. Clark refuses Chloe’s request to turn back time to save Jimmy. Major Zod (Callum Blue) visits the Luthor home; and Oliver’s dark turn continues.

The CW Orders More One Tree Hill,Vampire Diaries, Melrose Place

The CW has given a full-season order to One Tree Hill. The network had ordered just 13 episodes of the show this season, but the early pickup gives the show a full seventh season.

The CW also ordered additional scripts for The Vampire Diaries and Melrose Place. The order is a good sign that a full-season order is coming soon. The show holds the record as the CW’s most-watched premiere ever. Melrose Place hasn’t performed as well as expected, but the network is still hoping for improvement once Heather Locklear joins the show in November. Executives think the show is on track to earn an order for additional scripts.
