Peter O’Toole, a recent Oscar nominee for his work in Venus, will play Pope Paul III and thus square off against Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Henry VIII in a VII-episode arc on Showtime’s The Tudors next season.

Mary-Kate Olsen Getting High On Weeds

Mary-Kate Olsen is returning to television with a co-starring role on Showtime’s dark comedy Weeds, says The Hollywood Reporter. On the Lionsgate-produced show, Olsen will play Tara, a devoted Christian girl living in the newly developed megachurch community Majestic who becomes a love interest for Nancy Botwin’s (Mary-Louise Parker) son Silas (Hunter Parrish). Olsen will appear in 10 of the 15 episodes of the show’s third season. Weeds marks Olsen’s first major solo role. Since their debut on ABC’s hit comedy series Full House at age 9 months, Olsen and her twin sister, Ashley, have starred together in a string of kids and tween-oriented series and movies for television and video. In addition to Olsen, joining the Weeds cast this upcoming season is previously announced Matthew Modine. The series’ Season 3 premieres August 13.

Janel Moloney Joins Showtime’s Brotherhood

West Wing veteran Janel Moloney is joining the Showtime drama Brotherhood, which begins its second season on July 9. She will appear in four episodes playing a woman who has an affair with ambitious local politician Tommy Caffee (Jason Clarke). The show also stars Jason Isaacs as Tommy’s mobster brother, Michael. Moloney is best known for her role as Donna Moss in NBC’s The West Wing. Her other credits include the title role in the CBS TV movie Amber Frey: Witness for the Prosecution.

Matthew Modine Gets High For Weeds On Showtime

Michael Ausiello that Matthew Modine is joining the cast of Showtime’s Weeds for a 10-episode arc. He’ll play a real-estate developer who’s building a new community next to Agrestic. And in between bong hits, he’ll be romancing both Mary-Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins – although probably not at the same time. The show’s called Weeds, not Nip/Tuck.
