CBS has ordered a 12th season of Big Brother. The 12 edition of the reality hit is scheduled for next summer. The network is in talks with longtime showrunners Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan to return as showrunners. The three-times-a-week reality series debuted sluggish, then kept growing each week to challenge top-rated rivals like NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Big Brother is one of only a handful of summer reality shows to grow this year, up 7% in viewers and 4% in the adult demo. The current season airs its two-hour finale September 15.

AMC has renewed Mad Men for a fourth season. The pickup comes on the heels of the show’s third season premiere, which drew a record 4.5 million viewers Aug. 16 as well as critical praise. Creator Matthew Weiner, who garnered four of the five drama series writing nominations, is already on board for a fourth season as part of his wide-ranging deal with AMC and Mad Men producer Lionsgate, inked early this year.
The August 16 premiere of Mad Men drew 4.5 million viewers, shortly after the show received 16 Emmy nominations (including three acting and four writing noms) for its second season. The series won 2008 Emmy drama honors for its freshman year. Set in 1960s New York, the drama follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising.

TNT has renewed its fast-paced drama series Leverage, starring winner Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge. The network has ordered 15 episodes of the series, which is currently in its second season, airing Wednesdays at 9:00 PM/ET. The show’s summer finale will air Wednesday, September 9. It will then return to complete the second season in winter, with the third season scheduled to air in summer 2010.

CMT has ordered 20 more episodes of The Singing Bee, a karaoke game show. The show pulled in 1.5 million viewers in its debut on CMT in June – making it the highest-rated series debut ever on the network. The show originally launched in summer 2007 on NBC and continued through the fall, but was then canceled. The producers took the show abroad to air in 42 countries, and returned back to the US to sign with CMT earlier this year.

TLC has ordered an 18 episode second season of The Little Couple. The second season of The Little Couple is scheduled to air in the fall on Tuesdays nights at 10:00 PM/ET. The show follows the lives of a newly married couple – Bill Klein and Jen Arnold – both of whom are under four feet tall. The first season averaged 1.1 million viewers and the cable network was encouraged to give the show another season.

Syfy has ordered a second-season of freshman series Warehouse 13. The show revolves around Secret Service agents who investigate missing and newly found supernatural objects is the most-watched show in Syfy’s 17-year history, averaging 3.7 million viewers a week and 1.4 million in the 18-49 demographic. Thirteen episodes have been ordered for season two and that number could go up in subsequent seasons.
