Kevin Kelly over at TVSquad stumbled upon a pretty cool marketing gimmick The CW is utilizing for it’s new show Reaper – Drink Coasters. While stopping at a local bar for a drink, he got to the bar and saw coasters decked out with Reaper marketing. Kevin posts a picture and describes the coasters:
Anyhow, the coasters had some decent artwork on them (billboards with the same images are all over Los Angeles), but the reverse side really caught my eye. It’s a nametag that says “Hell, My Number Is.” So, you can pass this down the bar to that cutie you’ve been eyeing, just to show him or her that you’re concerned for their everlasting soul.

Hot off her recurring role on NBC’s Heroes, Missy Peregrym has landed the female lead on the CW’s upcoming one-hour series Reaper. The show centers on a 21-year-old slacker who becomes a bounty hunter for the devil. Peregrym will play the slacker’s pretty co-worker on whom he has a crush. She replaces Nikki Reed, who played the role in the pilot. Peregrym played Linderman’s “illusionist” associate Candice Wilmer, who could take on the appearance of other people.

Kevin Smith has signed on to direct a supernatural pilot for the CW. Reaper is a comedic drama following 21-year-old slacker Sam Oliver who learns that at birth his parents sold his soul to the devil (for what reason, we don’t yet know). Oliver must now pay back his debt by becoming a bounty hunter for Satan, retrieving souls that have escaped from hell.
This also marks the first time Smith will direct a project without having written the screenplay (or teleplay). I assume that he will touch up the final shooting script with his patented dialogue. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit writer/story editors Michele Fazekas (X-Files) and Tara Butters wrote the project. Shooting is planned for two weeks in Vancouver, beginning March 12th 2007. If it gets picked up, expect it to air in Fall 2007.
