TNT Announces Upcoming Series, Development At 2009 Upfront

TNT to Boost an Already Strong Primetime Lineup with Three New Original Series this Summer; Development Plans Include Projects from Steven Spielberg and Steven Bochco

This summer, four original series return to TNT. The lineup is led by The Closer, ad-supported cable’s #1 series of all time. The Closer is in its fifth season, starring Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick. The series will be joined by the third season of Saving Grace, starring Academy Award winner Holly Hunter, and the second seasons of Raising The Bar, from executive producer Steven Bochco, and Leverage, from executive producer Dean Devlin.

TNT Announces 2009 Summer Lineup

TNT has announced its summer schedule, pairing new shows Hawthorne and Dark Blue with established shows Saving Grace and Leverage. The new lineup will give TNT a two-hour block of dramas on Monday through Wednesday nights. TNT’s summer kicks off June 8 with the fifth-season return of The Closer in its regular Monday 9 pm slot, followed by the second season premiere of Raising the Bar at 10 pm/ET.

Ugly Betty Producer Raises The Bar

Ugly Betty executive producer Joel Fields has left the show after eight months. He is moving into a writer-producer role on TNT’s Raising the Bar, Steven Bochco’s legal drama. Both series are produced by ABC Studios. Fields had been hired to help with the show’s transition to a New York-based production. With all stories for the series’ current third season broken and approved by the network, his assignment was considered completed. Meanwhile, Raising The Bar is gearing back up for production on its second season, and Bochco, who previously recruited Fields for ABC’s Commander In Chief and FX’s Over There, invited him to join his new series.

TNT Renews Saving Grace, Raising The Bar

TNT’s sophomore series Saving Grace and freshman legal drama Raising the Bar will be back next season, the network announced Tuesday. Grace, which stars Holly Hunter as an imperfect Oklahoma cop, will begin airing the remaining eight episodes of its second season starting in March, with Season 3 starting later in 2009. Steven Bochco’s Raising The Bar, which broke a ratings record for the net with its series premiere September 1, stars Jane Kaczmarek, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Gloria Reuben as a judge and public defenders, respectively.
