Fans of ABC’s Pushing Daisies are donating hundreds of dollars in a campaign to send bouquets of daisies to network executives to persuade them to keep the show alive. Pushing Daisies, a critical and cult darling, has suffered in the ratings in its current second season. Two shipments of flowers have gone out so far, with more scheduled, organizer Paul S. White. More than 27,000 fans have also signed an online petition to save the show. Pushing Daisies airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Meanwhile, Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller is planning a return to Heroes if ABC doesn’t pick his show up for more episodes. “I am exclusive to Daisies through the delivery of the 13th episode of our 13-episode order, which will be mid-January,” says Fuller. “If Daisies isn’t picked up by then, I will definitely be going back to play with my friends at Heroes.” Fuller created Pushing Daisies as well as Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls, and his departure from Heroes late in season one seems to exactly correlate to the point at which Heroes lost its creative way. With lead writers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander having recently departed Heroes, it’s likely Fuller will have a bigger role than ever in helping creator Tim Kring steer the superhero drama.

Josh Randall will play the role of Chuck’s father, Charles Charles says Kristin@E!Online. He first appears in episodes eight and nine, “Comfort Food” and “Lighthouse,” and he may very well return for more episodes after that if ABC opts to pick up the show for the entire second season.
Ned brings Charles back to life to help Chuck solve some mysteries from her past, but Chuck doesn’t want just one minute with her late father, so she just might step in the way of Ned redeading her father. Now alive, Chuck’s dad has been mouldering in the grave ever since the fine print of Ned’s power killed him. As such, what with the 20-plus years of decay under his belt, Charles Charles’ looks aren’t what they used to be. The character starts off bandaged up like a mummy, but once the wrap is removed, Josh Randall will appear.

ABC will air Pushing Daisies in its usual time period on Wednesday night instead of the Barack Obama ad. The Obama campaign bought a half hour of airtime on NBC, Fox and CBS on October 9, spending about $1 million per network. ABC was absent from the list and the network remained silent about its programming intentions. With ratings for Pushing Daisies slipping, some have wondered whether the network would air the show as usual, also air the Obama ad, or run something else entirely. ABC reportedly offered the airtime, but the Obama campaign, for whatever reason, declined to buy an ad.
