Law and Order: Criminal Intent Returning April 19 With In Plain Sight

February 17th, 2009 | 0 Comments

USA Network has announced the return of Law and Order: Criminal Intent, pairing the show with In Plain Sight. Both shows will premiere on April 19. Law and Order: Criminal Intent will start its eighth season at 9 pm/ET followed by In Plain Sight’s second season at 10 pm/ET.

Criminal Intent, which this season replaces Chris Noth with Jeff Goldblum, was initially scheduled to debut in November 2008, just three months after Season 7 wrapped. In October, the network announced the series would instead return in early 2009, presumably so that all 16 episodes could air in a row. But come late January, USA further pushing the show to summer 2009.

USA Pushes Law & Order: Criminal Intent To Summer 2009

January 21st, 2009 | 0 Comments

USA Network has announced that new episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent won’t air until summer 2009. This is the second delay in four months. The eighth season was initially scheduled to debut in November 2008, just three months after Season 7 aired. In October the network announced the season would shift to early 2009 so they could air all 16 episodes in a row. This is apparently the same reason for this latest push-back.

For season 8, Chris Noth (Sex and the City), who played Detective Mike Logan, left the show after three seasons, and has been replaced by Jeff Goldblum, who plays Detective Zach Nichols. Preview scenes sent to TV critics in the fall showed that Goldblum’s performance departed from the stammering intellectual roles for which he is generally known. The show’s spokesperson said that Goldblum’s arrival was not responsible for the delays.

USA Pushing Law and Order: CI Premiere To 2009

October 30th, 2008 | 1 Comment

USA Network has pushed back the eighth-season premiere of Law & Order: Criminal Intent to first-quarter 2009 says The Hollywood Reporter. The show, originally intended to return to the schedule next week and air as a split season, will now have an uninterrupted 16-week run when it returns with new cast member Jeff Goldblum. “The show is in great shape,” a spokesperson said. “USA believed that ‘CI’s’ new season was so strong that it would be best presented in an uninterrupted run of 16 episodes. As a strategic move based on the overall TV landscape and in this economy, it made sense to maximize the value of ‘CI’ by moving to 2009.” Law & Order: Criminal Intent aired for its first six seasons on NBC, but was relegated to USA last season to avoid cancellation.
