TNT Renews Hawthorne For A Second Season

TNT has renewed freshman medical drama Hawthorne for a second season. The network has ordered 10 additional episodes of the show starring and executive-produced by Jada Pinkett Smith and created by John Masius. For its first season Hawthorne is averaging 3.8 million viewers. The second season is scheduled to air in 2010. Hawthorne, produced by Sony TV, co-stars Michael Vartan, Suleka Mathew, David Julian Hirsh, Christina Moore and Hannah Hodson. Pinkett Smith, Masius, Glen Mazzara and Jamie Tarses are executive producing.

Boardwalk Empire (HBO)
Michael Kenneth Williams, Dabney Coleman and Paz de la Huerta have joined the cast of HBO’s Martin Scorsese-directed drama pilot. Written by Terence Winter and to be directed by Scorsese, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire chronicles the early 20th century origins of Atlantic City and revolves around Nucky Johnson (Steve Buscemi), who runs a liquor-distribution ring, and Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt), his ruthless flunky.

De la Huerta will play Lucy, Nucky’s girlfriend, a hot party girl. Williams will play Chalky White, the defacto “mayor” of Chickenbone Beach, Atlantic City’s black section. He’s an intelligent ex-boxer and confidant of Nucky’s who rules his community with an iron fist. Coleman will play the Commodore Kaestner, Nucky’s predecessor and mentor.

TNT Announces Upcoming Series, Development At 2009 Upfront

TNT to Boost an Already Strong Primetime Lineup with Three New Original Series this Summer; Development Plans Include Projects from Steven Spielberg and Steven Bochco

This summer, four original series return to TNT. The lineup is led by The Closer, ad-supported cable’s #1 series of all time. The Closer is in its fifth season, starring Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick. The series will be joined by the third season of Saving Grace, starring Academy Award winner Holly Hunter, and the second seasons of Raising The Bar, from executive producer Steven Bochco, and Leverage, from executive producer Dean Devlin.

TNT Announces 2009 Summer Lineup

TNT has announced its summer schedule, pairing new shows Hawthorne and Dark Blue with established shows Saving Grace and Leverage. The new lineup will give TNT a two-hour block of dramas on Monday through Wednesday nights. TNT’s summer kicks off June 8 with the fifth-season return of The Closer in its regular Monday 9 pm slot, followed by the second season premiere of Raising the Bar at 10 pm/ET.

Charisma Carpenter has booked an appearance on CSI. Carpenter will play a skydiver named Mink in the episode Descent of Man, airing later this season. Sources describe Carpenter’s turn as both “fun and memorable.” Not unlike the actress herself.
