L Word alumi Janina Gavankar is leaving Grey’s Anatomy after just two episodes says Michael Ausiello. Gavankar joined the cast in September as one of several new Seattle Grace interns. The role turned out to be smaller than Gavankar had hoped, and without a guarantee that her part would grow, the actress chose to move on. Gavankar may be circling a far bigger role in White Collar, the USA Network pilot starring Matthew Bomer, Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen.

ABC Planning Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice Crossover Episodes
By Editor on November 6th, 2008 / 0 CommentsTV Guide is reporting that ABC is planning a multi-episode crossover story with Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off, Private Practice. They are looking to air the crossover episodes during February sweeps. Still in the development stage, the number of episodes and the actors involved has yet to be decided. Kate Walsh’s Dr. Addison Montgomery will again return to Seattle Grace, as she did for one episode last spring. Grey’s Anatomy is currently in its fifth season on ABC. The concept for Private Practice first emerged in the form of a back-door pilot/May 2007 episode of Grey’s Anatomy in which Addison ventured to Los Angeles to catch up with her friend Naomi.

First Brooke Smith was let go and her storyline with Callie scrapped, now Melissa George of Alias, who joins the show this month, is getting a makeover. Melissa plays Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) best friend and a new intern at Seattle Grace. She came on to the show as a bisexual character and love interest for Callie (Sara Ramirez), but Kristin@E!Online is reporting that they changed the script, and now she isn’t. She starts off flirting with Callie but it never goes anywhere.
Kristin@E!Online also notes that ABC also demoted Rebecca Romijn - who plays transgender Alexis Meade - from a series regular to recurring status on Ugly Betty at the end of last season. Is this some sort of effort on ABC’s part to remove all the gay characters from its network or just bad storylines? I really don’t see ABC being this close-minded, but we will wait and see.
