Meghan Markle has joined the cast of Fox’s Fringe in a recurring role. Fox describes Markle’s recurring character as “an attractive, brash and quick-witted junior agent,” which means she will surely rankle Olivia, amuse Walter and titillate Peter. The series, from J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, stars Anna Torv as FBI special agent Olivia Dunham, who investigates paranormal phenomena with the help of Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his son Peter (Joshua Jackson). Markle was one of the banker’s beauties on the NBC cash-stravaganza Deal or No Deal for four episodes in 2007. Fringe’s second season premieres September 17.

Elisabeth Rohm has signed to guest as a snotty rich woman who has a run-in with Naomi at the beach club.
Cold Case (CBS)
Bobby Cannavale is returning to Cold Case. Cannavale will reprise his role of Detective Eddie Saccardo for at least three episodes, starting with the third episode of the upcoming season. Lilly turns to her former lover in a time of need – this despite the fact that Saccardo is still undercover and close to cracking his big narcotics case.
Glee (Fox)
Eve has just signed a deal to appear in two episodes as a no-nonsense girls’ choir director from a rival school. Glee producers were considering Whitney Houston for the part. But when she turned it down, Eve signed on.
Melrose Place (The CW)
Josie Bissett will be returning as a guest star, reprising her role as the complex’s resident goody-two-shoes, Jane Andrews Mancini, in the upcoming CW series update.
Smallville (The CW)
Callum Blue has joined the cast as a regular. Blue will play General Zod next season, making his first appearance in the season premiere. Supervillain General Zod from the DC Comics books was introduced in 1980 feature Superman II, where the role was played by Terence Stamp.
Supernatural (The CW)
Adrianne Palicki has signed on to reprise her role as Sam’s ill-fated ex, Jessica. As you know, Jessica was killed by a demon in the Supernatural pilot. She reappeared at the end of season 2 during Dean’s genie-granting alternate reality trip, but hasn’t been seen since. She’s booked for one episode and it’ll air early in the season.

Andre Braugher has joined the cast of House for the new season. Braugher is set to play Dr. Nolan, the head doctor in the hospital ward that House ends up in. House is his challenge. Hugh Laurie says he’s excited to work with Braugher. “I have admired him as one of the greatest actors there is,” says Laurie.
The September 21 premiere episode will take place entirely within the mental institution where Dr. House landed at the end of last season. The two hour episode will be directed by executive producer Katie Jacobs, who will shoot exterior footage at the same institution in New Jersey that was seen in last season’s closing moments.

Clayne Crawford has been added to Fox’s 24 as a recurring character. Crawford will play a bad boy from Dana Walsh’s (Katee Sackhoff) past. Sackhoff recently signed on as a new regular on the real-time drama playing an expert data analyst at CTU with a secret past who is involved with CTU agent Davis Cole (Freddie Prinze Jr).

Fox has set the fall premiere dates for its new and returning series. The 2009-2010 season will kick off Wednesday, September 16 with the sixth season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance (8:00 PM/ET), followed by the highly anticipated series premiere of Glee (9:00 PM/ET), the biting new comedy for the underdog in all of us that features a soundtrack of hit songs from past and present. On Thursday, September 17, fan favorite Bones (8:00 PM/ET) and the second thrilling season of Fringe (9:00 PM/ET) return. Brothers, the new family comedy starring Michael Strahan, premieres Friday, September 18 (8:00 PM/ET) followed by the return of ‘Til Death (8:30 PM/ET) and the second season premiere of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse (9:00 PM/ET).
