90210 (The CW)
Jennie Garth has signed a deal to return this fall for multiple episodes. Garth reappears in the third episode when Kelly gives Harry advice on how to deal with his situation with Annie.
Additionally, John Schneider is joining the show in a recurring role. He will play Liam’s step-father, first appearing in the second episode of 90210’s new seasonl. Liam’s step-father, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, is a bit of a jerk, whom Liam does not get along with. When Liam returns after his summer stint in that “scared straight” program we saw him being hauled off to in the finale, he’ll clash with the doc was once again.

John Goodman has been cast to star in The Station, the Fox comedy pilot from Ben Stiller. The Station revolves around a group of lackluster CIA operatives at a covert South American outpost, where they’re charged with installing a new dictator. Goodman will play Ted Gannon, a gruff CIA vet and head of its Altamara Station, who mentors Eric. Goodman joins a cast that includes Justin Bartha, Whitney Cummings, Rob Huebel and Julio Oscar Mechoso. David Wain has been brought on to direct The Station. Stiller, Jeremy Kramer and Stuart Cornfeld are the executive producers on The Station, which comes from writer Kevin Napier.

The nominations in the major category were announced early Thursday morning by Parsons and Chandra Wilson of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy who were joined by the chairman of the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences John Shaffner.
Fox hit Family Guy became the first animated series in nearly 50 years, and the second ever, to land a best comedy series nomination, following The Flintstones in 1961.
Seven half-hours made it in to the best comedy series category, with two more first-timers, HBO’s offbeat The Flight of the Conchords, CBS’ often overlooked How I Met Your Mother and Showtime’s veteran Weeds. They will compete against defending champ 30 Rock, previous winner The Office and HBO’s Entourage.

My Name Is Earl creator/executive producer Greg Garcia has landed a put pilot at Fox. The single-camera half-hour show will revolve around a 25-year-old who winds up having to raise an infant with the help of his quirky family. The kid was the result of a one-night stand with a woman who ended up on death row for murder.
Garcia is about to start writing the script. In the new show, the young father clashes with his parents – who are in their 40s, having become parents themselves as teenagers. “It’s kind of in the world that ‘Earl’ inhabited,” Garcia said. “The same type of people. And with ‘Yes, Dear,’ I enjoyed writing about families and raising children. So I came up with this idea, which in a way combines those two things.”
