Mad Men (AMC)
Jared Harris is joining AMC’s drama for its upcoming third season in a major recurring role. In a 10-episode arc on the acclaimed period drama Mad Men, set at the 1960s-era Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency, Harris will play Lane Pryce, the agency’s financial officer.

Spike TV has picked up off-network rights to HBO’s comedy series Entourage. The network has acquired all 78 produced episodes, the upcoming sixth season as well as rights to future seasons of the show. The Hollywood-centered comedy about young actor Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his posse will launch on Spike in January, after the show’s sixth season wraps on HBO. Spike also has the right to create a window for a second network, which likely will be Comedy Central. This is Spike’s second acquisition of an HBO program in the past month. The cable channel also picked up HBO’s Emmy-winning miniseries Band of Brothers for a premiere in the third quarter.

George Segal has been cast for a multi-episode arc on HBO’s comedy series Entourage. The Oscar-nominated actor will play a Bernie Brillstein-type veteran manager who is a mentor to up-and-coming talent manager Eric (Kevin Connolly).

Day One (NBC)
David Lyons, Carly Pope, Adam Campbell and Thekla Reuten have been cast in NBC’s Day One. The show revolves around a group of neighbors in an apartment complex after a catastrophic event. Lyons will play the lead, an Iraq veteran who is a natural leader. Reuten will play an odd woman who keeps copious notes on other tenants. Pope will play a brilliant young woman who lives with her boyfriend, an MIT graduate and computer genius.
