Disney Channel has ordered a second season of the The Jonas Brothers’ comedy series Jonas. Showrunner Lester Lewis and director Paul Hoen have also taken on the role of executive producers. Production on the second season is scheduled to begin in February for a premiere in the middle of next year.
Additionally, Disney Channel has renewed the group’s short-form reality series Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream for a second season. Filming already is under way for a premiere early next year.

Disney Channel has renewed The Suite Life on Deck for a third season. Production on the comedy will resume in Hollywood in early 2010. The show stars Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse as identical twins Zack and Cody Martin who spend a semester at sea with hotel heiress London Tipton (Brenda Song) aboard the luxurious SS Tipton. The show ranks No.1 among kids 6-11 and posted series highs in total viewers (6.8 million) earlier this month. Pamela Eells O’Connell and Irene Dreayer are executive producing.

The Disney Channel has ordered an additional eight episodes of The Wizards of Waverly Place. Currently in its third season, the show earned the Emmy earlier this month for children’s programming. An original movie based on the show premeiered on the channel to big numbers in August. Created by Todd Greenwald and starring Selena Gomez, skein revolves around a family-owned New York City restaurant where the kids perform real magic behind the kitchen doors. The order brings the number of The Wizards of Waverly Place episodes to 86.

Phineas & Ferb, on both the Disney Channel and Disney XD, has not only been picked up for a third season, but a Christmas special and a music CD is in the works. Disney ordered 35 more episodes of the animated TV show about a couple of brilliantly outlandish school kids, which will take the show to 100 total episodes. The third season also features a new recurring cast member: Jack McBrayer, the actor who plays Kenneth the page on 30 Rock.
Phineas & Ferb, which also stars Ashley Tisdale, is about a couple of stepbrothers who spend their 104-day summer vacation masterminding one grandiose scheme after another. Tisdale plays the boy’s sister, Candace, whose mission is to tattle on her precocious little brothers. Co-created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, it’s the top-rated primetime animated show for children 6-11 and 9-14.

Disney Channel has ordered a fourth season of Hannah Montana, ending speculation that teenage sensation Miley Cyrus would be saying farewell to the show. Disney has also renewed Demi Lovato starrer Sonny With a Chance for a second season. Production on the fourth season of Hannah Montana will begin in early 2010.
Miley Cyrus is returning, but goodbyes will be an ongoing theme in an arc that will see Cyrus’ character and her family leave their beachfront Malibu home. Airing on Sunday evenings, Sonny With a Chance rose to number 1 among scripted series with kids 6-11 and is on par with American Idol in the 9-14 demographic.

Disney Channel has ordered more episodes of Hannah Montana and The Suite Life on Deck says The Hollywood Reporter. Disney has ordered six additional episodes for the third season of “Hannah,” bringing the total order to 30. Addition, the network greenlighted a 13-episode second season of Suite Life. Hannah Montana, which debuted in 2006, stars Miley Cyrus, Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Mitchel Musso, Billy Ray Cyrus and Moises Arias. Suite Life, a spinoff of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody that premiered in September, stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, Debby Ryan and Phill Lewis. It ranks as TV’s No. 2 program among kids 6-11 and No. 3 among tweens.
