USA has picked up Covert Affairs starring Piper Perabo to series with an 11 episode first season order. The spy drama centers on Annie Walker (Perabo), a multilingual CIA trainee unexpectedly promoted to field operative while reeling over a mysterious ex-boyfriend who appears to be of particular interest to her agency bosses. The core cast of the pilot – including co-stars Christopher Gorham, Peter Gallagher, Kari Matchett and Anne Dudek – will continue on the series, created and co-executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord. Eion Bailey, who guest starred in the pilot as the elusive boyfriend, is expected to at least be a recurring on the show.

Hrach Titizian will play Nabeel, the second-in-command of security for President Hassan (Anil Kapoor). Titizian also appeared on 24 in 2007.

USA Network has ordered the CIA-themed drama pilot Covert Affairs. Piper Perabo stars in the drama as Annie Walker, a CIA trainee who winds up being mysteriously promoted to the field as an operative. The show was written and co-executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, while Dave Bartis and Doug Liman will exec produce through their Dutch Oven shingle. The news comes after the show cast Christopher Gorman on the series.

Christopher Gorham will star opposite Piper Perabo in USA Network’s spy thriller Covert Affairs. Written by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, Covert Affairs centers on Annie Walker (Perabo), a multilingual CIA trainee who joins the agency still reeling over a mysterious ex-boyfriend who appears to be of particular interest to her bosses.
Gorham will play Auggie Anderson, a CIA military intelligence/special-ops agent blinded years ago on an assignment who is helping Walker navigate her new job.
The casting is believed to lift the contingency on the pilot.
