Mather Zickel and Todd Stashwick have joined CBS’ comedy pilot The Kareskys. Stashwick will play Emily’s brother Little Max, who runs one of his father’s butcher shops and lives with his wife (Tinsley Grimes) and their seven children next door to his parents. The Karenskys centers on Emily Atwood (Alexander), who returns to her hometown when her husband Bill’s (Zickel) job as biology professor relocates them and is reunited with her large, eccentric family, the Karenskys.
CBS has given Wednesday night comedy Gary Unmarried a full season pickup says The Hollywood Reporter. The network has ordered seven more episodes of Gary Unmarried plus two scripts from ABC Studios and CBS Paramount, which CBS is considering a “full season” in this case.
The network has also ordered another three episodes of Worst Week. Gary Unmarried has averaged 7.4 million viewers and a 2.5 adult demo rating; Worst Week has averaged 9.9 million viewers and a 3.3. Though Worst Week is higher rated, it has the Two and a Half Men lead-in on Monday nights. Gary Unmarried gets less of a push from The New Adventures of Old Christine.

What happened to the Ex List, the show that replaced Moonlight? Oh yeah it was canceled. It did a lot better and appealed to more woman than Moonlight did. Another great programming decision CBS.

NCIS alumna Sasha Alexander has been cast as the star of the multicamera comedy pilot The Karenskys on CBS says The Hollywood Reporter. The project, from Malcolm in the Middle creator Linwood Boomer, centers on Emily Atwood (Alexander), who returns to her hometown when her husband’s job relocates them and is reunited with her large, eccentric family. Although she is comfortable with her family’s intrusiveness, constant arguing and impulsive behavior, Emily is aware that her husband is far less so. Also cast in the pilot is Tinsley Grimes as Anne-Marie Karensky, the wife of Emily’s brother “Little Max” Karensky, who has given birth to seven children in six years. Alexander played Caitlin “Kate” Todd for two years on CBS’ hit crime drama NCIS.
Matthew Lillard is set to visit Gary Unmarried. Lillard will guest-star as ex-wife Allison’s brother says TV Guide. Lillard, of the Scream and Scooby-Doo film franchises, will appear in the freshman CBS comedy’s 13th episode as Gary’s former brother-in-law, Taylor, who has a knack for rubbing his well-to-do status in people’s faces. Blue-collar Gary just barely tolerates affluent Taylor’s taunts until he uncovers a surprising secret about him.
