Bravo Extends Top Chef Into Desserts

Bravo is extending its Top Chef franchise into the dessert genre with a new reality competition. Trying to capitalize on the recent success of TLC’s foray into Food Network’s dessert space with Cake Boss and Ultimate Cake-Off, Bravo is launching Top Chef: Just Desserts. The entry in the Top Chef franchise will have pastry chefs competing in a series of challenges. The series will launch in 2010 and is from Top Chef producers Magical Elves.

Bravo Orders A Second Season Of Top Chef Masters

Bravo has ordered a second season of Top Chef Masters, the spinoff series of Top Chef. Food journalist Kelly Choi returns as host, with restaurant critic Gael Greene, culinary expert James Oseland and critic Jay Rayner as judges. Top Chef regular Gail Simmons will also serve as a judge. The first season rose to become the highest-rated first season of a competition series yet for the network, averaging 2.2 million viewers and 1.5 million adults 18-49.

Bravo Renews Real Housewives Of New Jersey, Adds DC Wvies

Bravo has order up more Real Housewives. The network has added Washington DC to Housewives line up giving a season order to The Real Housewives of D.C. Bravo also renewed The Real Housewives of New Jersey for a second season. Both are set to premiere in 2010, with production under way.

Washington publications have speculated that cast members for The Real Housewives of D.C. will include Lisa Wernick Spies, wife of Republican fundraiser Charlie Spies, and Lynda Erkiletian, president of a Washington modeling agency. Bravo would not confirm castings.

Bravo Renews Top Chef For Seventh Season

Bravo announced the popular cooking series, Top Chef, has been renewed for a seventh season. The seventh season is scheduled to premiere in 2010. The show has set dates for open casting calls in search of the next set of small-screen kitchen maestros. Producers will begin casting calls Oct. 18 in San Francisco and then will travel to Miami, Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York and Dallas. No city has been set for the seventh season.

The current season of the show, Top Chef: Las Vegas, airs Wednesdays at 10:00 PM/ET. Padma Lakshmi remains the host and Las Vegas judges are Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons and Toby Young.

Bravo Developing New Reality Shows With Familar Faces

Bravo is developing three new projects starring some of the cable network’s recent breakout reality stars: Bethenny Frankel, Christian Siriano and Fabio Viviani. All three reality stars will now star in shows that focus on their lives and careers. The untitled show starring Frankel, from the channel’s The Real Housewives of New York City, will showcase her career as a natural foods chef, as well as the Gotham socialite’s love life.

The flamboyant Siriano, who won season four of Project Runway (back when the show still aired on Bravo), will be featured in his show as he sets up a new shop and markets his clothing line. Viviani will star in Fabio: A Catered Affair, which will chronicle the challenges he faces as he and business partner Jacopo Falleni look to expand their restaurant and catering business in Los Angeles. Viviani was a Top Chef finalist in season five.

Bravo Picks Up The Real Housewives Of New York City For Third Season

Bravo has picked up The Real Housewives of New York City for a third season, but might feature a new group of Manhattan socialites. Announcing that the reality series will return in 2010, Bravo said it is “casting for additional housewives” amid reports about a salary dispute between the cable network and the six cast members: Alex McCord, Bethenny Frankel, Jill Zarin, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, LuAnn de Lesseps and Ramona Singer.

Negotiations between the stars and Bravo are ongoing. Production on the third season of the Shed Media U.S.-produced show is slated to begin in the fall.
