HBO announced the renewal of freshman comedy Hung, veteran comedy Entourage and hit vampire drama True Blood. Hung will get a second season, True Blood a third and Entourage a seventh. The new seasons will debut sometime next year, with True Blood firmly planned for summer 2010.
Next year HBO intends to air Big Love in January and roll out its highly anticipated World War II miniseries The Pacific in March. The war epic will eventually serve as lead-in for Treme, the New Orleans drama from David Simon. Flight of the Conchords will also likely return, with executives making a third season sound very probable.

Jennie Garth has signed a deal to return this fall for multiple episodes. Garth reappears in the third episode when Kelly gives Harry advice on how to deal with his situation with Annie.
Additionally, John Schneider is joining the show in a recurring role. He will play Liam’s step-father, first appearing in the second episode of 90210’s new seasonl. Liam’s step-father, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, is a bit of a jerk, whom Liam does not get along with. When Liam returns after his summer stint in that “scared straight” program we saw him being hauled off to in the finale, he’ll clash with the doc was once again.

The nominations in the major category were announced early Thursday morning by Parsons and Chandra Wilson of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy who were joined by the chairman of the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences John Shaffner.
Fox hit Family Guy became the first animated series in nearly 50 years, and the second ever, to land a best comedy series nomination, following The Flintstones in 1961.
Seven half-hours made it in to the best comedy series category, with two more first-timers, HBO’s offbeat The Flight of the Conchords, CBS’ often overlooked How I Met Your Mother and Showtime’s veteran Weeds. They will compete against defending champ 30 Rock, previous winner The Office and HBO’s Entourage.
