Deperate Housewives Preview 04.16.06

April 16th, 2006 | 0 Comments

Look for new faces with big names tonight, beginning with Carol Burnett as Bree’s stepmother, Eleanor Mason, and Ronny Cox as her father, Henry. We understand that Eleanor’s not very nice. Surprised? Considering Bree’s nasty legal business with Andrew, maybe that could come in handy. Speaking of legal issues, the Solises will be back in court, trying to keep their newly purloined baby, who they’re calling Lily. Let’s hope she doesn’t grow up to be another Andrew. And speaking of big names, Kyle MacLachlan turns up as a dentist out to complicate Susan’s life even further. Isn’t Karl doing a good enough job of that as it is?

ABC Testing Free Downloads Of Popular Shows

ABC Television will offer some of its most popular shows for free on the Internet in a two-month trial. Commander in Chief and Alias along with Lost and Desperate Housewives will be available on the Web in May and June, starting the day after they are first broadcast.

Advertising revenue will support the trial run on ABC.com, with advertisers AT&T, Ford, Procter & Gamble and Universal Pictures already signed up.

Viewers will be able to pause and move between “chapters” in an episode but will not be able to skip ads that are technically embedded.

What’s this mean for the ABC shows being sold on iTunes? Who is going to pay $1.99 when they can get it legally and free from ABC itself. It will be interesting to see if ABC has enough advertisers onboard to make this a profitable experiment. If successful, it certainly would be good news for consumers.

Libby lends Hurley support when he begins to think the island is having a strange effect on him; the prisoner provides new information about the hatch, shaking Locke’s sense of purpose.

Changes could be in store for Hurley. Didn’t we last see him about to fall off a cliff? Talk about being “out of the loop”! It’s all tied to his visions (at least that’s what we think they are) of his old mental-institution mate Dave (Evan Handler). And wasn’t Sayid pointing a gun at the character formerly known as Henry Gale? And wasn’t it followed by the sound of a gunshot? We shall see.

It’s party time again as the Wisterians celebrate Edie and Karl’s engagement. Look for Felicia Tilman to make it memorable. Meanwhile, the blessed event that Gaby and Carlos have been awaiting arrives, although how blessed it’ll turn out to be remains to be seen. And poor, unappreciated mom Bree might finally be owning up to her own addiction, but she’ll have to deal with someone else’s addiction of a different sort when her AA friend Peter McMillan (Lee Tergesen) gets real friendly real fast.

Despite the grim reaper’s frightful toll two weeks ago, some patients at Seattle Grace have survived, among them Denny, who survived his operation and got a kiss — on the mouth — from Izzie to boot. Speaking of boots, that’s what George might get from Burke, who has been putting him up (while Cristina has barely put up with him) since he left Meredith’s house. Maybe George can begin cuddling up with Callie (Sara Ramirez). Cuddling is something Meredith has been doing precious little of lately. But maybe the beginning of Chris O’Donnell’s stint on the show will change that. Mare Winningham guests.
