It’s that time of year again on ABC Family. As part of its 25 Days of Christmas, ABC Family will air the first four movies of the Harry Potter franchise December 5-7. The world television premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will also feature deleted scenes not included in the theatrical version. ABC Family will also air the first look at the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (in theaters July 17). Exclusive sneak peeks of the film will show throughout the three-day marathon. The magic begins December 5 at 7:30 pm/ET with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

ABC Family has assembled the main cast of its high school comedy pilot 10 Things I Hate About You, an adaptation of the 1999 feature that in turn was based on William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory Peck), Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Kyle Kaplan and Nicholas Braun have been tapped to star in the pilot, which revolves around two sisters – strong-willed feminist Kat (Shaw) and social butterfly Bianca (Martin) – facing the challenges of starting at a new high school. Braun will play schoolmate Cameron, who is smitten with Bianca. Kaplan will play his friend Michael. Peck will play the dark and mysterious Patrick, a student who intrigues and bothers Kat from a distance. In the movie, Kat and Patrick were played by Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger in his breakthrough performance. Michael was played by David Krumholtz.

ABC Family has handed out a pilot pickup to Perfect 10, a project set in the world of competitive gymnastics. Perfect 10, which follows a group of teen Olympic hopefuls as they train and prepare for their day in the spotlight, is an hourlong drama created and written by Holly Sorensen, who also will executive produce with Adam Cohen, Cara Tapper and Joanna Vernetti.

ABC Family has picked up two half-hour pilots – 10 Things I Hate About You, based on the film, and Ruby and the Rockits, starring Alexa Vega. Gil Junger, who directed the 10 Things feature, is on board to direct the single-camera pilot as well as the untitled movie. 10 Things, written and executive produced by Carter Covington, revolves around two sisters – a strong-willed feminist and a social butterfly – facing the challenges of starting out in a new high school. The series is from Prodco Inc.
Ruby, from ABC Studios and exec producers Shaun Cassidy and Marsh McCall, is a multicamera comedy about a former teen idol whose quiet life is disrupted when his brother and former bandmate shows up with a newfound teenage daughter. Ruby, directed by Ted Wass, was written by Cassidy and Ed Yeager, with teleplay by Yeager. Austin Butler, Patrick Cassidy and David Cassidy also star alongside Vega.
10 Things and Ruby will go into production this fall in Los Angeles.
