Minnie Driver has signed on for a guest appearance on the ABC comedy. In an episode scheduled to air in January, Driver will play a friend and former co-worker of Claire’s (Julie Bowen). The two reconnect after years of being out of touch and things are not exactly how they remembered.

David Costabile (Damages) is joining the AMC drama when the third season premieres in March 2010. He will be playing Walt’s (Bryan Cranston) new assistant, Gale. he is described as an eager student and a brilliant chemist, more interested in the magic of chemistry than getting rich. Costabile is signed for a minimum of four episodes.

The 2009 Fall Season is upon us and that signals the return of Premiering Tonight. Welcome to Premiering Tonight, highlighting all the new and returning shows premiering on the Fall 2009 schedule.

Premiering tonight on TV are the season premieres of Lincoln Heights, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and Jay Leno.

Lincoln Heights – 8:00 PM/ET on ABC Family
In the fourth-season opener, the Suttons decide whether to move in the wake of the earthquake. Eddie gets worried when Charles and Cassie are questioned by police about Mac’s death, and Tay is taken to the hospital.

ABC Family Picks Up 10 More Episodes Of 10 Things

ABC Family has picked up the back 10 episodes of 10 Things I Hate About You’s first season. According to show runner Carter Covington, those episodes are likely to premiere beginning in January 2010. Covington says the second half of the first season is going to get even more sophisticated as the rivalry between Bianca and Chastity (Dana Davis) turns openly political. We’ll get an “unexpected history of Patrick Verona” in the episodes to come.

On the show, which premieres July 12, Minnelli plays a psychic who takes her sister (Burke) to court after she opens a competing psychic shop directly across the street from her store. Their episode airs September 20.

Army Wives (Lifetime)
Shelby Lynne will appear in an August episode, playing a country music singer whom Roxy adored while growing up, but now is “down and out,” Brigid Brannagh (Pamela) says “Roxy ends up befriending her – and then she sings a little ditty at the Hump Bar, which is pretty cool.”

Appearing in the episode immediately following is Gilmore Girls actress Kelly Bishop. She’ll be playing the wife of a late, great state senator, in town to attend a building-naming ceremony. Charged with entertaining the special guest, Claudia Joy and Denise come to realize the not-so-weeping widow’s secret – that she’s a cougar!
