Fall premiere dates for the 2008-2009 season were announced today for the ABC Television Network by Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment. Wife Swap and Supernanny swap Wednesdays for Fridays. Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy settle into their Thursday night slots with Life on Mars joining them in October. Eli Stone moves to Tuesdays and Pushing Daisies returns to Wednesday nights. ABC primetime fall premiere dates are as follows:

CBS announced its fall launch dates, including an early premiere for the 17th edition of Survivor and late debut for CSI and other crime dramas. The bulk of CBS’ schedule will debut during the traditional September premiere week, or just after. But Survivor: Gabon will debut Thursday, September 18. The first debate between John McCain and Barack Obama is scheduled for Friday, September 26, with a second debate featuring the vice presidential candidates slated for Thursday, October 2.

NBC announced the premiere dates for its fall lineup, including a three-hour Heroes premier on September 22, which begins with a one-hour clipshow before the two-hour third season premiere. Also slated to launch during premiere week are Law & Order: SVU on September 23, new drama Knight Rider and Lipstick Jungle on September 24 and comedies My Name Is Earl and The Office – which will return with one-hour premieres – as well as ER on September 25.
Sophomore dramedy Chuck and new drama My Own Worst Enemy, toplined by Christian Slater, will join Heroes on September 29, while Life will return for a second season October 3. The mother-daughter comedy Kath & Kim, starring Molly Shannon and Selma Blair, will make its Thursday entrance Oct. 9 and air in the plum post-The Office 9:30 p.m. slot.
