Striking Writes Disrupt Filming Of Cane

Noise and other disruptions caused by a Hollywood writers’ picket line caused filming to stop Monday at a location for CBS’ Cane. The shutdown came as about 20 writers chanted, screamed and used a bullhorn outside a cafe near the CBS lot in Studio City. Tom Hogan, a location manager for the show, said he hired two off-duty Los Angeles police officers and five private security guards to maintain order. He said the filming began hours before the picketers arrived and involved a script that was finished several weeks ago. After the shoot was stopped, writers cheered and rejoined picketers around the corner at the studio.

Now this kind of childish behavior really leaves me with no sympathy for the writers. The script was completed before the strike so the studio has every right to film the episode. It just shows me how arrogant and childish the Writers Guild members are and that they deserve zero concessions from the studios. I can understand the strike when the writers handle themselves with class, but this incident shows their lack of class.

It’s interesting that you say this because I was actually mulling over dropping this feed because of your article bashing A&E for firing Dog for being exposed as a huge racist. But hey, being disruptive? Yeah, THOSE are the bad people we should look out for. Idiot.

I think both situations were wrong. I think what Dog did was wrong, but he wasn’t trying to cause anyone or anything harm, whereas the strikers were trying to damage Cane. Splitting hairs, being disruptive, I don’t know.

I just am getting sick of all the political correctness in America. Realistically, the only group you can get away with insulting in this country are middle-aged, white men. If you pick on anyone else and its racist, sexist or some other ist.
