Steven Weber is returning to NBC and the half-hour format as the star of the network’s comedy pilot Zip. He will play Trip Stringer, a guy with no money living in Beverly Hills who, with the help of his Latino partner, Hugo, and a colorful cast of accomplices concocts one scheme after another in the hopes of making it big and securing the glamorous Beverly Hills lifestyle for his three children. This is the second incarnation of Zip, which originally was ordered as a pilot by NBC last year. That pilot, starring Rob Huebel, didn’t make the cut in May, but when independent producer Ben Silverman took the reins of the network in June, he put the project back in development. Silverman’s Reveille production company was one of the project’s producers.

In addition to his starring role on Zip, Weber appears on ABC’s drama Brothers & Sisters this season as a love interest to Sarah (Rachel Griffiths). Weber is coming off his acclaimed performance as corporate executive Jack Rudolph on the NBC drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip last season. He has a long history with NBC in the half-hour comedy arena going back to his starring role on Wings. He also starred on the network’s sitcom Cursed and did an arc on Will & Grace.
