The 2009 Fall Season is upon us and that signals the return of Premiering Tonight. Welcome to Premiering Tonight, highlighting all the new and returning shows premiering on the Fall 2009 schedule.

Premiering tonight on TV are the season premieres of Smallville, Brothers, Ghost Whisperer, Law and Order, Dollhouse, Medium and Numbers.

Smallville – 8:00 PM/ET on The CW
Season 9 opens with Clark ready to begin his training with Jor-El, who instructs him to first end things with Lois. Lois returns to work with no memory of where she’s been and meets a new reporter John Corben (Brian Austin Green) while on assignment who has a secret. Clark refuses Chloe’s request to turn back time to save Jimmy. Major Zod (Callum Blue) visits the Luthor home; and Oliver’s dark turn continues.

Brothers – 8:00 PM/ET on Fox
A cash-strapped ex-NFLer (Michael Strahan) moves back home with his parents and brother. In the sitcom’s premiere, Mike (Strahan) lets his date spend the night at his parents’ house, and his mother (CCH Pounder) considers this a personal foul. She decides it’s time that her two sons play by her house rules. And the man of the house, Coach (Carl Weathers), finds himself in hot water when he forgets his wedding anniversary.

Ghost Whisperer – 8:00 PM/ET on CBS
In the fifth-season opener, Melinda gives birth to a boy, who has her gift of seeing the dead.

Law and Order – 8:00 PM/ET on NBC
In the 20th-season opener, a war veteran’s body is found in a university parking garage, and the subsequent murder investigation leads Lupo and Bernard to a law professor who once worked for the Department of Justice.

Dollhouse – 9:00 PM/ET on Fox
The Season 2 opener begins with Echo engaged in a mission for Ballard: marrying a British businessman (Jamie Bamber) linked to one of the former FBI agent’s open cases. Saunders, meanwhile, deals with the unique circumstances of her origin by aiming her wrath at Topher.

Medium – 9:00 PM/ET on CBS
In the Season 6 opener, Allison struggles through the aftermath of her brain surgery and its potential lasting impact on her life. Meanwhile, a TV-station owner enlists Devalos and Scanlon to probe the purported stalking of his station’s sportscaster, who is also his wife.

Numbers – 10:00 PM/ET on CBS
The sixth season begins with the team protecting a high-profile political activist who may be the target of a sniper. Meanwhile, Charlie seeks an answer from Amita about his marriage proposal.
