Premiering tonight on TV are the season premieres of Bones, Suvivor: Samoa, Saturday Night Live Weekend Update, Parks and Recreation, Fringe, The Office, Community and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Bones – 8:00 PM/ET on Fox
In the fifth-season premiere, work resumes for Brennan, who’s back from a dig in Guatemala, and Booth, anxious to return to duty six weeks after his brain surgery, when Angela’s psychic (Cyndi Lauper) suggests there are bodies buried under a fountain in Washington, D.C.
Survivor: Samoa – 8:00 PM/ET on CBS
The 19th edition of the series begins with 20 castaways being stranded on the South Pacific island nation of Samoa. They are immediately divided into two tribes: Galu and Foa Foa. Next, without speaking to each other, the tribe members select a chief who will make all of their decisions. At tribal council, the first person is voted out of the game.
Saturday Night Live Weekend Update 8:00 PM/ET on NBC
Amy Poehler, who left Saturday Night Live last season to headline her own NBC sitcom, returns to the late-night show to lampoon politics and news.
Parks and Recreation – 8:30 PM/ET on NBC
In the Season 2 opener, Leslie tries to drum up publicity for the Pawnee zoo by arranging for two penguins to wed, but she inadvertently causes an uproar when both penguins turn out to be male. Elsewhere, Mark sets his sights on Ann and asks her out on a date.
Fringe – 9:00 PM/ET on Fox
The Fringe division comes under congressional scrutiny in the second-season premiere, which also follows Olivia’s incredible return to her familiar environs and the pursuit of a mysterious entity that will stop at nothing to find her.
The Office – 9:00 PM/ET on NBC
In the mockumentary’s Season 6 opener, the Dunder-Mifflin staffers share gossip about the summer interns. Michael, feeling left out of the fun chatter, desperately goes hunting for the next big rumor to spread. Meanwhile, opposite-sex issues rattle Andy.
Community – 9:30 PM/ET on NBC
A lawyer (Joel McHale) whose degree has been revoked forms a study group in the premiere of this comedy series following oddball students attending a Colorado community college. Chevy Chase also stars.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – 10:00 PM/ET on FX
On the season 5 premiere, Frank, Mac and Dennis try their hand at real estate; Dee arranges to be a surrogate mother for a rich couple; Charlie squares off with a lawyer over the intricacies of the judicial system.
