NBC Orders Pilot For Parenthood Series From Jason Katims

NBC has given a pilot order to Parenthood, a dramedy a based on Ron Howard’s 1989 feature starring Steve Martin and Dianne Wiest that centered on a Midwestern family. Friday Night Lights” creator/executive producer Jason Katims wrote the adaptation, produced by Universal Media Studios and Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine TV. Parenthood would not interfere with the future of cult favorite Friday Night Lights, which is up in the air, sources said.
