Miami Ink Finale Leading To L.A. Spinoff

Miami Ink is airing its season finale tonight at 10 pm/ET on TLC. Kat Von D is leaving Miami Ink and getting her own spin-off, LA Ink, starting on June 12 at 10 pm/ET. She’s leaving the Miami shop and it isn’t exactly on the best of terms. The headstrong Kat apparently went head-to-head with Ami James and she ended up storming out. Over the past season she’s made it pretty clear that the Miami scene isn’t for her, that her coworkers just don’t like to party enough and that basically she doesn’t like being told what to do.

This particular battle may stem from Kat’s recent altercation with Orange County Choppers’ owner Paul Teutul Sr. Teutul was going to have Kat and Garver fly up to New York and do a few tattoos, but when Paul’s girlfriend wanted an arm band of hearts, Kat told them it was beneath her and that she didn’t see why she was going since it was a waste of her talent. Miami Ink store owners Ami and Chris Nuñez had to make nice, and they both visited Orange County to do the tattoos personally. Ami was less than pleased with Kat’s attitude, and they are probably going to butt heads over that issue on tonight’s season finale. Since Ami is the one who typically does all the narration for Miami Ink, I’m sure we’ll get mostly his perspective, but we will only have to wait a couple of weeks before we will get to hear Kat’s side of the story.

UPDATE: TLC has setup a new page for LA Ink premiering in August – thanks Meghan. Kat also has setup a My Space page for LA Ink. While I can’t find an official premiere date, but the general online consensus seems to be August.
