Lifetime Renews Army Wives For Fourth Season

Lifetime has renewed its signature drama Army Wives for a fourth season. The 18-episode fourth season is slated for a 2010 launch. The pickup comes four months ahead of the third season premiere of Army Wives in June, when it will return to its regular Sunday 10 pm time slot. Army Wives is Lifetime’s highest rated series ever and cable’s top drama series among women 18-49.

Army Wives follows the struggles, dreams and friendships of a diverse group of women – and one man – living with their spouses and families on an active army post. The series, which is filming its third season in Charleston, South Carolina, stars Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Brigid Brannagh, Brian McNamara, Sterling K. Brown, Wendy Davis, Drew Fuller, Terry Serpico and Catherine Bell. Katelyn Pippy, has also been upped to series regular.

Army Wives is produced by ABC Studios and the Mark Gordon Co. Jeff Melvoin, Marshall Persinger, Harry Bring, Mark Gordon and Deborah Spera executive produce. Tanya Biank, of whose book Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives the series is based on, serves as a consultant.

“This early pick-up – even prior to the Season 3 premiere – is a true testament to our commitment and support of this great show,” said Lifetime’s executive vice president JoAnn Alfano.
