FX has acquired the network rights to X-Men Origins: Wolverine in a package deal that also includes hit features Taken and Marley and Me. In a deal that could be worth $80 million or more, depending on how Wolverine performs at the box office, FX secured an eight-picture deal that also includes The Wrestler, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Bride Wars, 12 Rounds and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

The package gives FX a wide variety of demographic targets ranging from broad-based like Wolverine to family in Marley and Me and both female- and male-oriented titles. The deal is the latest in a series of big movie deals at FX, which has secured a variety of packages over the past few years from Universal including Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Baby Mama, Marvel’s Iron Man, Paramount’s Tropic Thunder, Sony’s Hancock and DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda.

The movies will come to FX approximately 30 months after their theatrical release – which means Wolverine will likely show up on the network in the latter part of 2011.
