TNT Green Lights Night And Day

TNT has given the green light to Night and Day, a pilot from 24 co-creator Joel Surnow and Todd Robinson says The Hollywood Reporter. The fast-paced, gritty drama about the life of an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms marks Surnow’s first series project since he departed “24″ in February after seven years.

Megalyn Echikunwoke Joining CSI: Miami

Megalyn Echikunwoke is joining CSI: Miami as a recurring character. On CBS’ veteran forensic drama, she will play a medical examiner who makes a good first impression with Lt. Horatio Caine and his team of CSIs. Echikunwoke is expected to at least partially fill the void left by the departure of Khandi Alexander, who played Miami-Dade medical examiner Dr. Alexx Woods since the launch of the show in 2002. Alexander still may return for guest appearances.

David Arquette has signed on to guest star in this season’s fourth episode of Pushing Daisies reports Michael Ausiello. While investigating a murder, Ned encounters the socially awkward Randy Mann, who has a secret, special talent that unexpectedly bonds him to the Pie-Maker.

ABC Announces Fall 2008 Premiere Dates

Fall premiere dates for the 2008-2009 season were announced today for the ABC Television Network by Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment. Wife Swap and Supernanny swap Wednesdays for Fridays. Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy settle into their Thursday night slots with Life on Mars joining them in October. Eli Stone moves to Tuesdays and Pushing Daisies returns to Wednesday nights. ABC primetime fall premiere dates are as follows:

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Returning To Grey’s Anatomy

Denny Duquette, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is returning to ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy says The Hollywood Reporter. A rep for the show confirmed Morgan’s guest appearance but declined to divulge further details. Denny first appeared in the show’s second season as Izzie’s (Katherine Heigl) patient, who was in the hospital because of a heart condition. The pair became engaged, but Denny died at the end of the season. His character did return in the third season in a vision seen by a near-death Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). Grey’s Anatomy has its fifth-season premiere September 25.

Scrubs Could Get Braff-less Ninth Season On ABC

Many entertainment sites are reporting that this is Zach Braff’s last season on Scrubs, and they are making a big deal about it. This was always supposed to be the last season of Scrubs. Creator Bill Lawrence has been saying that Scrubs could go on another season, and with ABC getting behind the show, ratings could improve enough to be reupped for another season. Braff said he is open to coming back as JD in a more limited role and to direct if the show made it to another season. Lawrence is saying he always saw Scrubs as a comedy version of ER with people rotating in and out of the show.

Lawrence wrote the finale a few years ago and was very upset when NBC wouldn’t give him the chance to wrap up his show. “The end of the show will be about J.D. leaving the hospital,” Lawrence said. “When you leave, it’s about holding on to your relationships.” ABC came in and gave Lawrence that chance, giving him the support and promotion NBC never gave Scrubs. This is the first season that will be recorded in HD. Most of the upcoming season has already been shot and will air in midseason.

Sons Of Anarchy Adds Karnes For Six Episodes

Jay Karnes, who plays Detective Holland “Dutch” Wagenbach on FX’s The Shield, will appear in at least six episodes of FX’s upcoming drama Sons of Anarchy, which revolves around a motorcycle club. Drea de Matteo, who is in the show’s pilot, is set to appear in two more episodes.
