The show comes from writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and CSI: NY executive producer Peter Lenkov. There are little details on the reboot, which chronicled the workings of the fictional Hawaiian state police department led by Steve McGarrett. The original series ran on CBS from 1968-80. Kurtzman and Orci are co-writing the story for the pilot with Lenkov, who will write the script under their supervision. All three are executive producing.
