Denny Duquette, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is returning to ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy says The Hollywood Reporter. A rep for the show confirmed Morgan’s guest appearance but declined to divulge further details. Denny first appeared in the show’s second season as Izzie’s (Katherine Heigl) patient, who was in the hospital because of a heart condition. The pair became engaged, but Denny died at the end of the season. His character did return in the third season in a vision seen by a near-death Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). Scrubs Could Get Braff-less Ninth Season On ABC
Posted on July 17th, 2008 at 9:02 am

Many entertainment sites are reporting that this is Zach Braff’s last season on Scrubs, and they are making a big deal about it. This was always supposed to be the last season of Scrubs. Creator Bill Lawrence has been saying that Scrubs could go on another season, and with ABC getting behind the show, ratings could improve enough to be reupped for another season. Braff said he is open to coming back as JD in a more limited role and to direct if the show made it to another season. Lawrence is saying he always saw Scrubs as a comedy version of ER with people rotating in and out of the show.

Lawrence wrote the finale a few years ago and was very upset when NBC wouldn’t give him the chance to wrap up his show. “The end of the show will be about J.D. leaving the hospital,” Lawrence said. “When you leave, it’s about holding on to your relationships.” ABC came in and gave Lawrence that chance, giving him the support and promotion NBC never gave Scrubs. This is the first season that will be recorded in HD. Most of the upcoming season has already been shot and will air in midseason.

The three sons will now be teenagers, while the daughter is around 8 or 9 years old.

October Road Creators Hope To Finish Their Story
Posted on July 15th, 2008 at 9:32 am

TV Guide is reporting that October Road may have an ending despite being canceled by ABC. Co-creators Scott Rosenberg, Josh Appelbaum and AndrĂ© Nemec wrote a 15-minute finale called “Don’t Look Back: An Epilogue for an Epic Love.” The story will start at the wedding of Hannah (Laura Prepon) and Big Cat (Warren Christie), and then flash forward seven years, where fans will receive answers to most of their remaining questions. The plan is to include the epilogue on the second-season DVD and possibly online.

After two seasons on the Road, even the cast wants closure. “I don’t know who Sam’s father is, so I am just as excited to find out as the fans are,” says Bryan Greenberg (Nick). And although the shooting schedule is still up in the air, there’s one thing you can count on, says Lindy Booth (Pizza Girl): “We all love the show, so we’ll all be there.”

This is great news for October Road fans. I know I was disappointed at the show not getting picked up for another season. There are so many things left open when the second season ended. Hopefully this small finale gets made and released, give Road fans a little closure. I think this idea of a 15 minute epilogue is a great idea and I think more canceled shows that run their full season should have a chance to wrap things up. Imagine if some great shows like Surface and Invasion had 15 to answer all the questions they thought they would answer in the next season and beyond.

Scrubs Gets Another Cox At Sacred Heart

Michael Ausiello is reporting that Courteney Cox is joining the cast of Scrubs for a three-episode arc as Sacred Heart’s new Chief of Medicine. Cox’s boss lady character will “ruffle feathers,” teases a Scrubs insider. Creator Bill Lawrence teased a few months ago that he wanted to “stunt” cast a big name for the role of Dr. Kelso’s successor and I think he succeeded with casting Cox.

Will McCormack and Eric Christian Olsen have joined the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters in recurring roles next season. They will play new business associates of Sarah (Rachel Griffiths), and one of them is being groomed as a potential love interest for her. Sarah, the eldest Walker sibling, left a prestigious corporate job to spend time with her family and run Ojai Foods. She has been fighting to keep Ojai alive and salvage what’s left of her failing marriage, losing the latter battle at the end of this past season. In addition to his role on Brothers & Sisters, McCormack has landed a potential recurring role on ABC’s untitled David Kohan/Max Mutchnick comedy pilot, about two lifelong friends and business partners (Alan Tudyk and Josh Cooke), one gay and the other straight. McCormack is playing Scott, a well-intended schmuck who wants to hire the duo to design his Web site.
